EK 777 is terrible in Y; 10 across... aisles are so narrow you're bound to get bumped every time someone goes past if you have an aisle seat.

I would take it (and have) any day over a red eye in a 744 to BNE if I had the choice, done it twice so far, first flight was OP upped to J on a BR fare (happy days) and second flight the plat shadow left a vacant seat between us, sweet!

No such luck for me, no status with QF so was actually in 49b one of the pairs at the back.

I flew up to sin in SQ 773 J... It was tough coming back.

10 across in 777 Y is getting rather more common. Plus EK have done this for a while and still pack them in (pun intended).

Now unless Airbus' seat standard crusade gets some serious traction.....

I find EK 777 Y seating absolutely hideous as well. I will avoid it as much as physically possible.

I had a shadow only once (out of 4 flights). I was in the middle bank of seats, and I was trying to use both of the seats to try to sleep on my side with my head towards the aisle. My head got bumped every time someone went past! Finally I gave up on sleeping on my side and just leaned back on the seat as Y passengers are meant to...

If in Y I'll stick to QF, in J I prefer to book JASAs. But if work or someone else is paying, I'd take EK J/F.

Next time try to get to check in @ T-3.5 / 4

You have a chance to ask for an exit row seat.

Otherwise, sardines here we go !

Flight was chockers for me. I looked 4 weeks out on seat selection and not one window seat available.

It's hard to complain when fare is so cheap but feeling the effects of the flight today at work!

That doesn't seem right.
According to Tim Clark you should have been unconcerned by that and "mesmerised by the food and TV".

Well, I think I've flown a bit too much to be "mesmerized" by airlines' food and TV (barring SYD/MEL FLounge of course ;-) ). In fact as the flight was a red eye (HAM-DXB) as soon as I got on board I asked the hostesses not to wake me up (I had already had dinner in Emirates' lounge in HAM). In the hindsight, I should have just stayed up and be "mesmerised" by the food and TV :)

Was there any ham in the Emirates HAM lounge

Actually no!!!! :)

But seriously, if there is I have not noticed... their food selection is pretty good though. Their lounge is about 3-4 times the size of the only other lounge, which is shared by all other airlines! And as they only have 2 flights per day, they look after each passenger in the lounge pretty well.

just booked myself to london next winter through .br. June30 QF21/BA6, Aug1 BA25/QF128 for ~$1500. Certainly cheaper than anything i could find on an aussie website. thanks to all that have posted on this thread for the tricks!

I agree with MH_Fan - I have no problem using the Portuguese "untranslated" - just ensure you use "Voos" = Flights.

Did you do this on the same booking? I thought it was not possible to combine BA flights with QF128.
