Today I got message from my travel agent.

Regarding Qantas will stop running direct flight to Beijing.
I checked Qantas timetable seems the flight stop after May.

They going to reissue my ticekt to Beijing via Hong Kong.

I am holding RTW ticket.

I was thinkg go to Shanghai then Beijing.

Can I ask Qantas reissue my flight to Shanghai?
Also their are one Qantas codeshare flight from PVG-PEK by China eastern.
I don't think I can using RTW under codeshare flight.

How can I do?

confirmed from QF,no more direct flight to Beijing after April.

My journey will be PVG first then PEK.

I, for one, am very sorry to see the QF flights SYD-PEK ended.

I do not like going via PVG (typical Adelaide person, I gripe about having two transfers).

Going via HKG, however - well, hard to complain if you've got a day or two to spare.

Likewise very sad to see this service squashed.

Make's my journey up there a 3 flight affair.

I'm not sure if this is a strange personal quirk, but I always find connections to be more painful at the end of a long journey. It is never too bad to have a connecting flight outbound in Australia (the shambles in Sydney notwithstanding) but to add a 2 or 4 hour flight to the end of the journey (e.g. QFs codeshare flight from PVG) really bites.

I'm now liking CX even more than I did already - their Australian network is much better than QFs (from HKG) so on the return a nice little KA flight from PEK to HKG leads into a CX direct into Adelaide (and just about anywhere else you want). (Of course, their outbound from ADL is via MEL, so it's still 3 stops heading North.)

I don't mind connecting flights at the beginning of an overseas trip but on the way back into Australia, regardless of the length of the trip, I want to get home ASAP so most times will travel directly back to SYD.

YMMV and circumstances vary.

While it's nice to go directly to your home port; scheduling may not assist and there's always the chance for a few cheap SC's.

e.g. Coming back from HKG to MEL, QF30 is a day flight departing at ~9am.

Amongst other considerations, this:
  1. Minimizes my sleep in time
  2. loses me an extra ½ day in Hong Kong
  3. Prevents me from employing the Wing (/Pier) at it's optimum.
So from HKG, for me it's QF98 or QF128. I generally allow a minimum of 3 hours to transit to give time for a refreshing QP shower before boarding my final segment back to MEL.

Disclaimer: I have found I can sleep quite well in WHY on red-eyes (esp after an hour or two in a Flounge ;))

Sadly, I have found that I can sleep like a baby in J without any difficulty, but I can only sleep pretty fitfully in Y even with my favourite form of liquid assistance :)
