Hi guys. Can anyone help me with the below.

I'm flying from MEL-LAX on Saturday and have Qantas Silver status. My girlfriend is also travelling with me but is Bronze. Can she check in with me at the Silver/Premium Economy counter or would she have to check in at Economy?

We booked our tickets separately but have selected seats next to each other and are obviously travelling together.

Many thanks.

There are no guarantees, but I'm sure you'd be fine. Whilst perhaps within their right to do so, the check-in agent would have to be pretty cruel to send your GF away for being on a different booking reference than you!

If you're travelling together, you can check-in together – it's as simple as that. :)

(The same goes with priority boarding and screening, though you won't be entitled to either of those as a PS traveller.)

I doubt there will be any problems using the PE counter...I don't think I've ever seen anyone be turned away from a priority line... I remember a few years back at MEL Int accidentally using the J check-in when I was no-status in Y, and they did the check-in without blinking an eyelid.

If you call qantas they can link the bookings for you. This will cement your ability to checkin together.
Did this a few times with some friends who I was travelling with. As a QC I could access heaps of seats they couldn't. Once they were linked they could get acces to the seats I could see.
while you are already sitting together it might be good to link the bookings just to put your mind at ease. But as the others have said there should be no issue. Done it heaps with friends even when bookings not linked.

You should be fine.

I don't remember if Qantas has an OLCI bag drop queue but the airlines that do have them this is one of the shorter queues.
