So I have had a few days to calm down from my Finnair Ret-ticketing Fiasco. I make these observations on the absolute lottery using your points to book Partner Awards is at the moment - the odds are against you.
1. Finding the reward - some airlines appear to be limiting their reward seats made available to QF-or at least making them very difficult to find. We all know the struggles of finding award seats generally at the moment.
2. Book the ticket -it either gets ticketed very quickly or you go into the ticketing pool - exposing you to the QF current variable customer service centres and the other airlines ticketing rules - apparently some are quicker to cancel your unticked seat than others . Another prayer point.
3. Pray you intiarary doesn't need changes which need reticketing- again exposing you to what i like to call the Great Qantas Call Centre Enhancement Lottery.
4. In either of these situations, the Lottery kicks in and your answer will generally be provided by a call centre worker you will know more about the issue to which they will say you are wrong and proceed to do something to you your booking to 'fix' it. They may promise ticketing will come through later. This means you have not won the lottery. They may say it goes to a queue and will get it in 24 Hours . If it does come through- you have won the lottery, Second DIvision. 3rd prize is having to ring up every day to chase ticketing up.
4a Your time in the queue may be delayed if you changed your credit card details from the original booking. Apparently we are supposed work this out for ourselves.
5. Any further schedule changes requiring re ticketing takes you back to step 4.
6. QF call centre script seems to be when it gets a bit hard . "Oh will just have to cancel your trip and refund the points" Be warned they will slip it in as i guess the scrip calls is a 'fix' for the problem.
