I'm thinking of trying to harvest some SCs under the current promo by booking DFW-SFO-DFW in F, but when I take myself along to qantas to book it it tells me I can only book this route with points. How does it work, do I just book at AA and quote my QFF on that booking? Cheers

Which promo?

If you’re referring to the DSC offer, internal flights on AA or AS aren’t eligible for DSC (regardless even if booked as a QF codeshare - which is only possibly in conjunction with QF lonhghaul international flights).

But they can be some good SC earner options booking directly with AA or AS domestic “First” - which earn as Business class for SCs.

Qantas is not able to book US domestic flights unless it's connecting.

You can still earn SC flying AA or AS and inputting your Qantas FF number.
The flights will not however get Double Status Credits.

Ah, thanks. I haven't quite finished booking the international legs yet so maybe I can still do that.
If you are originating from Australia, you could construct something like SYD-DFW-SFO-DFW-SYD on the Qantas website as a multi-city and it should (hopefully work). If the outbound and inbound flights from/to SYD are QF marketed and on QF metal then DSC should apply to those legs if all of the rules are complied with.

The internal USA flights should book to AA or AS metal and will earn standard SC's are per the earning tables, but not DSC's.

If the routing is much more complicated than that, or you aren't comfortable piecing it all together yourself, it might be better to contact a knowledgable Travel Agent to do the work for you.
