Qantas Says COVID Credits Are Refundable

Or to pre-empt (further) legal action.
I still reckon that if people haven’t used those credits by now there is a fair chance they never will so pretty smart move from Qantas (I’m still not much of QF fan regardless).

We have tried to use ours on many occasions and the QF world's finest IT systems have not let us book. Get to payments page and often get the message credit number not valid.

Well there is that impediment too!

Wonder whether this backlash will force some overseas airlines, some of whose credits have already expired to reconsider their decisions.

On the phone to Qantas again - if you ring the 1300 171 605 number it says if your flight isn't today hang up and call later or go to Qantas.com.

Now I'm getting really angry. I had a mixture of Amex credit and when it was changed a couple of years ago I paid more to Qantas. Qantas are saying Amex need to refund me and Amex are saying they can't do anything because it is in Qantas hand. FFS. I'm going to try them to put it back in as a credit. I had been putting off applying for my Qantas club refund but just emailed them and ask for the refund now I'm LTG.

Apparently Joyce said the calls to this number were being answered in under 4 minutes - BS

When I tried to get a refund on a credit from Apr 2020 initially (about 6 months ago), they said the original fare conditions precluded that, and that it could only be used as a flight credit. I have since used about 3/4 of it. I wonder if they would change their tune on the refund of the residual now, with the whole country watching them on this.

I rang for a refund for 3 Qantas Passes today and after providing the pass numbers , proving who I was etc. I was told that because I no longer have the credit card my original bookings were made on, I had to provide a statutory declaration which proves I am the holder of the credit card I wish my refund to be credited to !! Has anyone else had this experience?
So much for getting a refund easily !

Has anyone else had this experience?
Yes, this has been reported quite a few times so I think this is Qantas SOP. I guess they're just covering their cough in case someone tries to refund to a different card, then opens a chargeback on the original card.

So this morning I got a survey on how I felt my interaction with Qantas customer service was. Boy did I enjoy writing that. Not rude but firm and forceful

I visited the Qantas site tonight and noticed this:

The headline says the travel credits don't expire but they then go on to say that you must use the credits by 31 December 2023. What am I missing here?
