A few new sale fares released today including a J special to China:

Noticed that QF currently have a sale out of SIN too. Less than $1000 SIN-FRA-SIN. People might want to have a look at that.

BTW, just booked JQ BKK-MEL for next month. Approx $170, all-in. That'll stick it up D7 (as it should)

Yes and considering all the recent fare increases SYD-BNE vv is only $79 one-way. :D

Surprised they didn't call it the 'Cut Virgins Lunch Sale' ;)

Excellent! Was wanting HKG down to ADL for July... was considering a TPE departure on CX but this is perfect. Now I just need *class AKL-SIN to go on sale again... waiting, waiting sigh. Nice when things actually fall into line for once

PE ~$1,500 after taxes (still quite reasonable).

Now the fun of booking PE to ADL begins. No use on the web site, can't even find any PE fare on expertflyer. Seems to be all too familiar.

Reading the fine print on the link and it says PE is available between HKG and SYD and MEL. I don't think there are any direct flights to ADL

I think I would rather grab CX ex TPE in J if you do a lot of Asian trips and can work out the return legs to fit in the validity window:

I looked at the CX ex Taipei fares for a trip to HK but on the cheap fare the maximum stopover seemed to be 1 day. I guess I would need to use a separate fare.

Are you trying to book stopover on the website? If trying to book online then it gives the option of connecting flights the next day.

I believe stopovers are permitted but you would need to book/organise stopovers via the call centre. The terms and conditions are a little clearer but not sure what is meant by 'en route'. I guess it means you cannot make Hong Kong the start and end point of the trip.

CX Busines Standard said:
Stopover

  • Stopover Hong Kong:
1 Stop(s) permitted. On the inbound free of charge. On the outbound not permitted.
Note:
  • There may be other charges associated with stopover ie. Taxes.
  • Stopovers must be "en route" during the journey; conditions from the fare rules apply.

Indeed there isn't. But the page did refer to the PE price to ADL, CNS etc. presumably via SYD or MEL on the 744 services. Can't be done on the web site because it doesn't present that class as an option for ADL. Call centre could see it (with availability not showing on EF) but can't sell it being ex HKG.

I agree it's better value and have been looking at that option. In this case it's not just me travelling so price is important.Departing QF on a monday I can link up with my beloved QF81 and get the first lounge on the way home - more than a conciliation. A few things to weigh up such as coffin class not the best if you're not travelling solo.

Best to book QF ex HKG from an online travel agent I'm guessing? The QF site is basically useless again. It was apparently reported...
