Qantas reciprocal relationship with KLM/Air France (2020 onwards)

Ability to book AF La Prem would be amazing!

Sigh… dunno why they reckon AF is the only airline codesharing on a direct Europe to Australia service… Finnair and Iberia codeshare on BA’s flights to Sydney. And according to the Changi airport flight listings, AF and KL already codeshare on the QF service SIN-DRW!
It does say “non-stop” service between Europe and Oz in the first para. Not sure why they then use “direct” in the 2nd…

Thanks for asking! Would also love to know the answer... Considering QF to SIN and AF to CDG/JFK but would have to book separate tickets (one paid Y, one Classic J reward)
I just did Per to Sin QF71 J and then Sin to CDG AF J on seperate PNR's with a 4hr transit. I did ask in Per if my bags could be checked through and was told no, interline agreement on seperate PNR's only applies to Emirates. I asked if they could search for connecting flights and was told the same. However bags were collected quickly and checked in at AF counter which opens 3hr before the flight. AF also do early drop at the Jewel.

Lounge access as a WP was QF business this was on the boarding pass. Still tried my luck at the 1st lounge and was told that I could only access if it was a code share flight. I was then asked for QF proof of flight booking, showed and he said that the flight number is not a code share flight. I didn't think I could book a flight through QF if was not a code share?

At the business counter I asked the same question and was told that the agreement between AF/QF is for business lounge access only, unless flying in La Premiere. QF website just states lounge access.

Over all a good experience and very relieved that I didn't have to find out what QF would have done in QF71 was late. Both of my flights were great, the food on AF was very good, and I loved that I could pair my head phone to the AF entertainment system.

Qantas acts as agent for many airlines, and can sell non-codeshare tickets.
Makes sence, just my lack of knowledge, I didnt question it. However it would be good to know which flight is a code share and which isn't to save any confusion.

A code share is almost always indicated by a 4-digit flight number. So it would AFxx_ and the codeshare would be QFxx_x.

If available, codeshares are usually easy to spot on the booking page, and will say something like QFxx_x is operated by air France.

Thanks Mel_Traveller.

Didn't notice @jace05, flight was a few days ago, however cannot remember seeing a QF flight number on it.

I doubt QF would of done anything unless it was a single pnr which would protect the connection. If you were on a separate ticket for your next sector they'd wipe their hands. It would then be upto AF to do some goodwill to rebook you next day for no cost I guess. No hotel etc... thats where travel insurance helps.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I search and found mixed comments around it

Looking to book CDG to MLA on Air France and can't if QF Platinum get any benefits?

QF website really only talks about benefits if you are flying a QF code share on AF?

More interested in luggage allowance as even though we will do carry on, our July Carry On Pro is a little over the dimension limits.

Obviously priority checkin/FastTrack/lounge would be useful :)

Thanks in advance, Pete

I booked through Qantas but still an AF or KL flight number. "Premium" or some such word is printed on the boarding pass, so the usual WP perk of an extra piece of checked luggage is included, and priority check in. There still seems to be a question mark about lounge access if flying Y, but I did have access once, but not another time. Note my flights have all been classic rewards booked via QF. I really cannot confirm if a stand-alone purchased seat booked through AF receives the same privileges, but I doubt it.

Thanks, yes this will be a direct AF booking. May just have to take a punt

If you're on an AF or Skyteam flight#, your QF status is worthless.
QF is acting as a travel agent to sell you the ticket. You may as well have booked through Flight Centre.

You might be better off doing a VN or KQ or AFKL status match using ur QF (if possible), and crediting the Skyteam flights elsewhere.

Actually, if your booking via QF and can score a QF code, then potentially a number of perks open up (eg F lounge access in SIN).

OP was actually asking about direct bookings with AF, which have limited benefits associating QF FF status.

Yes, more likely to get ST benefits with ST status.
