I'm interested if anyone knows the process Qantas uses for reticketing a changed booking?
I made a booking in Feb 2026 which was a Classic Plus reward MEL-SIN-LHR and Returning LHR-DXB-MEL on a paid commercial codeshare fare with QF flight numbers. Recently I saw a sale fare online for LHR-SIN-SYD-MEL, so I phoned Qantas and asked to change the return leg from LHR-DXB-MEL to LHR-SIN-SYD-MEL. Done easily over the phone and actually received a refund for the slightly cheaper return fare. All good. But a few weeks have passed, and it has not been reticketed. I know I can phone and request reticketing (which I will do) but I'm really curious if anyone can explain the process for reticketing and why it sometimes happens automatically within a few minutes and sometimes takes up to 24 hours and sometimes doesn't happen at all? How long should one wait before it's safe to assume it's not going to happen?
