Qantas Price Match ROFLMAO

The reaction here seems odd to me. I personally get very excited when I find a fare on another site that's less than on Qantas.com (even if it's by a negligible amount) because through price promise, they'll refund the difference plus 1000 qff points. For example, I recently booed a flight CBR-xSYD-AKL. On Qantas.com, it was going for $509 but on zuji it was for $506. So that's 1000 qff points for not much effort :)

That is a terrific incentive, agreed.

Does it have to be within x hours of making initial booking? I should imagine it would otherwise specials would become basis for subsequent price matching.

From Qantas Price Promise | Best online prices guaranteed for cars, hotels, transfers and activities.
You must ... Complete and submit the Price Promise claim form by 23:59 AEST on the same day as making and paying for your flight at qantas.com.

But this isn't a problem for me. When researching flights, I would also look at other sites so will usually know I'm taking them up on price promise even before I book the flights. The same price promise goes for hotels too ;)

QF is trying to make max profit that is why they won't match the best price :)

Yes I did and the response was sorry Sir we cant find that price!!
The ~$1,027 airfare appears to be available on Expedia so easily proved.

BUT even if they did how is that I can book cheaper through an agent than I can direct from the source or are they advertising best price online and hoping no one checks?
Sometimes agents have access to better deals or reduce their commission on flights which is why the airfare is much lower.

wow you're paying a grand to get to BKK?
And can be cheaper.

Qantas

When will you learn you say you offer the best prices at qantas.com yet every time i look for a flight I find cheaper else where for example have to go fly Mel to Bangkok on the 28th October returing on the 31st October

Qantas Price $1176.00

Same Flights same day with all charges included on Bestflights.com.au $1011.00 some 14% cheaper than qantas????

It's all about the pricing psychology of customers. QF says they will beat any price, and they do. What this does is makes you think QF is already the cheapest in the market. They're not, and never will be (they don't need to compete on these terms). In this sense they are brainwashing you to think everyone else is more expensive.

Just doing some quick research for future flights, the jetstar site will beat pretty much anything shown on Qantas for the same JQ flights - for MEL to SYD, same flight/time/date, JQ quotes $138 return, while Qantas has $184. You'd get your $45 back, but a bonus 1000 points (or even an extra 2000 if you booked the two flights separately).

Unfortunately, one of the conditions for the QF Price Promise is that it has to be:
for the same Qantas flight numbers
so JQ flights are not eligible.

Ugh, that's rather annoying! But I suppose the flights are cheap so ... well, the flights are cheap!
