Having made two successful application for price match I wondered what success others have had and or had declined and why?

My latest two are

MEL-LHR Qantas Return in economy Price $1503.00 Matched to $1384.00 from www.fly365.com Saving $119.00

MEL-CKG Qantas Return in Business Price $1998.51 matched to $1843.50 from www.bestjet.com Saving $155.01

All the flights were searched for on Cheap Flights Australia | Free Airfare Comparison at I Want That Flight

So what have your successes been or what have you had declined and why?

I'm 1 for 1

MEL-CHC return in Y for 2 pax $667 down to $650. $17 probably isn't worth the half hour I spent doing it, but it was more about the principle.

was about to ask... what's the point if they just match it? i guess it's kind of easier with changes/disruptions if booked direct. but it should have a sweetener.

Well I'd already paid QF, I'd rather book direct in case I need to make changes of any sort, and they give me a paltry 1000 points for my effort.

I thought there was a 1,000 point bonus or am I imagining it ?

I tried the price matching for Qantas Hotels two weeks ago and was declined, no reason provided.

Quest Apartments had lower rates directly on their website, but Qantas was offering 3x points, so I thought I'd try.

Luckily there was free cancellation, so I ditched Qantas Hotels to get the better direct rate.

Despite only being bookable online, you can't cancel Qantas Hotels online, so it was an annoying lesson learnt!

Cancelling over the phone has always been quick and painless for me. It's not a big deal.

I'm overseas at the moment, so the cost of the phone call to cancel would have eaten up the price difference. They are also only available M-F during Australian business hours, which is the middle of the night here, plus I did the booking on a weekend.

I ended up emailing them via the Contact Us page, and they processed the cancellation Monday morning Australian time.

So it ended up OK, but it wasn't quick, and I had a couple of days waiting to ruminate on how silly I was to believe the marketing spiel just to chase a handful of points.

I was left asking the same question when my request was declined. You get nothing in that case, particularly for hotels and car hire, except the hassle of cancelling or wearing the higher Qantas price.
