Qantas Points Club Discussion

If you don't get anywhere on the phones I'd wait and see what happens over the next few months. My guess is StatusKeeper will be extended past September given the current domestic border situation - you may not need as many SC as you expect.

Well I certainly hope that is the case. I have another baby due soon so don't plan on doing too much flying over the next 6 -8 months anyway and I'm kind of preparing for the worst.

Still if I can get these 100SC's over the line I should be able to re-qualify with a quick status run ticking off the 4 flight segments at the same time. Otherwise I think I'll probably fall short.

But you're right, plenty of time to see how it all unfolds.

Could someone confirm how the roll over of SCs works?

If you only earn 100 SCs in one membership year do they all roll over into the next year? Or are SCs only rolled over if you are above a qualification level. Eg if you retained Gold but had earned 650 SCs having only required 600 SCs would 100 be rolled over or would only 50 SCs would roll over?

According to my experience this year, you can roll over up to 100 SC regardless of retain targets for your membership level. So in the example you gave, you would roll over 100 SC.

Just dropping a data point - the 100 SC rollover posted for me today, 1.5 months after my anniversary.

As far as I know, Qantas hasn't clearly defined whether the rollover is dependent on exceeding the SC retain target (i.e. only "excess" SC rolls over, similar to rolling over prepaid credit or data quota) or whether all Points Club Plus members can carry up to 100 across. I didn't retain WP last year and got the full rollover, so it would appear to be the latter, unless the coronavirus extension is the reason I was eligible this year.

Thanks. So now my understanding is that the "up to" means that you will get a rollover of your first 100 SCs. Earn only 60 SCs in the year and they will all be rolled over. Earn 110 SCs and 100 will be rolled over.

Based on experience this year yes, however it could also be due to the one year status extension for members who didn't hit their retain target.

We won't know how the rollover benefit should behave with certainty until Points Club Plus members need to start hitting retain targets again (i.e. after March next year, assuming no further extensions)

Very true - typically a rollover benefit in loyalty terms is for any excess above the qualification, but the terms are simply not clear enough on this, at least that I can find!

Cheers,
Matt.

Very interesting. I also have had some classic flight awards status credits deposited to my account from recent flights, however, they don't match the table. I flew Brisbane to Cairns (862miles) in business, so should have gotten 24 status credits each way, but I got 28 each way?????

The exact same thing just happened to me this week!

Also, if booking Classic Rewards that now on SC, I assume they qualify for Eligible Sectors (i.e the requirement to have 4).

I can also confirm. I had 4 remaining and after flying only 2 classic awards this membership year, I now have only 2 left to do.

Is this an unpublished benefit of points club or do award flights normally count to the 4 eligible QF or Jetstar marketed flights?

Around the time the Points Club started, it was light-on for detail and I couldn't see how many SCs were to be given for award flights. I did some research online and I found a chart listing of the SC levels for various flights. This was not on the Qantas website, but I cannot remember where I found it.

It mostly matched the SCs listed on the Qantas website, but there were three notable exceptions; these were for domestic awards in business. For short domestic awards, it said 18 SCs, against 16 on the Qantas website. For medium distance, it said 28 SCs, against 24 on the Qantas site, and for long distance domestic, it said 38 SCs, against 32 on the Qantas site.

Given the above examples of 28 SCs for domestic business awards, I am wondering if the chart I found is correct.
Has anyone else received 18 / 28 / 38 SCs for their domestic business award flights?

If anyone could point me in the direction of a SC earning chart for award flights due to Points Club, it would be much appreciated.

Discussion on flights earning more than what's listed in the link above should probably be kept to a minimum. The classic award tables are calculated relative to paid fare SC earn rates.

Economy awards earn 70% SC
Premium Economy earn 50% SC
Business earns 40% SC

The 16, 24, 32 brackets for domestic business are not typos.

I was assuming that any QF / JQ / 3K etc... should count towards the 4 segments, even if it's award flight.

Now, I flew 2QF and 2JQ so far this year, all 4 classic awards. I only got the 2 segments, pretty sure those are the 2 QFs. I assumed JQ might take longer to show up, but that's now more than 1 month. Maybe a bug. I didn't chase Qantas as I have a few more flights coming and I should hit the 4 segments easily. It's just a bit weird.

JQ classic awards aren't included in the Points Club SC earn benefit, therefore they're unlikely to qualify as eligible sectors.

Please don't - it will only highlight the fact that your QF awards did...

OK my bad, I though any QF JQ etc... normally count, even awards one. Indeed they don't.

So I have a question. I have reached points club plus. They have said they will pause my current Qantas club membership- but I don’t have current membership. And I got nothing else to confirm Qantas club membership. Anyone else had this experience???

Has your digital card updated in the Qantas app? I'm not sure whether it takes some time for the QC benefit to activate. How recently did you hit PC+?
