I was looking online and before some flights only costs 80000 qantas points, now it costs more than 1,000,000 points, is this normal? If not when do you predict for it to come down?

You are looking at 'points plus pay' pricing, where a regular seat sells for points. Select 'book with points' and 'classic rewards only' to only see the seats you saw originally (if still available).

So what you're seeing is that the "Classic Reward" as QF brand it was priced at 80k but that seat has obviously gone. The 1m point level is basically the cost in points for the same revenue fare - a very different beast.

So you need to make sure you're selecting to search for "Classic Rewards"

Good luck finding any rewards seats though. I've tried searching for any return to Japan and it's either economy with Jetstar or the occasional Qantas, or nothing.

These days I only look if I plan on making a booking right away. Going away and thinking about it only results in disappointment
