Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I was told that the P1 area was reserved for when flying QF metal.

Well, she actually said “it’s supposed to be for those on QF”.
So, I expect there’s some ‘fluidity’ in the rule
We're you hoping for some 'fluidity' for yourself? 🍾🥂

I was on EK and she wouldn’t let me in the ‘zone’…

That was from the front desk though.
As can be seen (from others’ anecdotes) the better play is probably to get over to the roped area and see how you go.

Looks like the loyalty bonus 50SC now count for P1 since they removed the 8k points option

21.7.3 When Members claim their Loyalty Bonus Status Credits, those Status Credits will count towards attaining or retaining Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One, and attaining Lifetime Silver, Gold and Platinum. Loyalty Bonus Status Credits will not count towards the next Loyalty Bonus, the Platinum Bonus Reward or other Platinum One additional benefits

Received my first event invite:

As a valued Qantas Platinum One member, we are delighted to invite you and a guest to enjoy A‑Reserve tickets to the Women’s T20I Series, along with an exclusive, money‑can’t‑buy Boundary Walk experience at the Sydney Cricket Ground prior to the match.

Catch the electric energy of Women's T20I cricket as Australia faces India under the lights at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the opening match of the series.

Date: Sunday 15 February 2026

Grateful to be invited to something, though the "Boundary Walk" experience isn't my cup of tea (I saw people doing them during the Ashes - bit of a strange flex/idea!). Doesn't quite compare to the other experiences shared on this thread! 😅

After just on 100,000km and 79 'eligible' flights for the membership year I got the blue card.

Interesting to note during my welcome call I didn't get told about the app settings - all were defaulted to no. So thanks to everyone who pointed out that they needed to be opted in for any events.

Excited/curious to see what the next 15 months as P1 looks like.

The problem is if you don’t have a QF boarding pass it won’t show your P1 status, and if you’re not escorted you’ll be asked for your BP.

I’m flying AA out of LAX and I had to show my boarding pass, fortunately I’m connecting to QF in HNL and I have that pass so just showed that (QF app, it has my P1 status). Not that it gets you much in LAX.

I am flying from Sydney to Christchurch on Emirates in first class next weekend, booked through Qantas on the QF code (as opposed to the EK code). Do you think it is likely that they would escort me to the roped off area if I present my Emirates boarding pass along with my Qantas Platinum One frequent flyer card? I could also show them my QF app demonstrating that I have booked the flight under the QF code if that would help.

Did you show them your Qantas frequent flyer card/Qantas app (in addition to the Emirates boarding pass) or just your Emirates boarding pass?

No, I asked the question formally. Told her I was P1 etc
She said “umm yeah, that’s supposed to be only for those flying Qantas”
It didn’t sound like some hard-and-fast rule, but I still think you’re better off going over to the roped-off aread and trying to get one of the staff to let you in, rather than dukeing it out with the gate keepers

Can confirm "new to this s" answer was at Qantas first SYD on 11th of this month and asked the staff member escorting me "is it true codeshare customers dont get access to P1 area?" she confirmed P1 travelling on Qantas metal only...

Today I received an invite to a dinner with the CEO of Qantas Loyalty in Canberra in March. I presume other CBR-based P1s got the same.

Unfortunately I'll be in the UK that week, so I'm 0/3 in terms of invitations that I haven't been able to attend. I'm disappointed about this one as it would have been a good opportunity to talk directly with QF about the good/bad/ugly.

After about 7 years of DSCs and StatusKeeper, tomorrow I drop to WP.
  1. No 'Enjoy your flight' VIP upgrades ever
  2. No events I could attend - just one invite that clashed with travel
  3. No P1 competition prizes, except for the red Christmas pyjamas if they count but seems they were handing them out like lollies
  4. No proactive flight monitoring and responses (there might have been monitoring but I didn't see the effects). I've heard of astonishingly good service where during disruptions the VIP team was already holding seats on other airlines, but the one time I needed this to happen it didn't
  5. Never got a sim flight
  6. One time i asked the VIP team to facilitate something (minor) in the F lounge - didn't happen
The best benefits for me were in descending order:
  1. The w*nker 'status' and seeing for myself what I'd otherwise never know! And thus being able to post in this thread with lived experience
  2. 100% success rate on international points upgrades, for myself and family
  3. Scoring a CL visit
  4. Good (not perfect) success rate for releasing international reward seats
  5. First row of Y or J
  6. F lounge passes
  7. Partner platinum - this would be higher if the recipients were able to get more use out of it so this isn't QF's fault
  8. Being acknowledged on flights and those postcards (rarely) - see #1 w*nker status
  9. Special area of F lounge and special menu - see #1 w*nker status
  10. Christmas gifts - I don't drink and had to give them away
  11. Magazine mailouts
  12. Avis President's Club - totally useless
The last two times I called the VIP team I didn't even get a VIP agent - must've been slammed with the DSC promo. I'm trying to think of excuses to ring them one last time but coming up blank.

I'll update my profile when I wake up as WP.
