To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

I've been silent for almost a year on this - but instead of getting over it, time has not dampened my frustration. Platinum One and received a notice that I was receiving a Christmas gift from Qantas. I had received the book set the year before without incident. I received mobile notification on the day the package was to arrive and was at home with the house wide open for the rest of the day. Nothing arrived so I contacted the couriers (I think it was the beloved StarTrack from memory). They complained to ME, that Qantas had dumped all these deliveries on them with little notice and were struggling to deliver. Anyway, four attempts and numerous phone calls and promises of delivery - nothing - then I just gave up. I thought it was probably no great loss until I heard it was Krug! through these pages. Then I was angry. It annoyed me so much that I switched carriers for two more overseas flights and this meant I no longer qualified for Platinum One status. It may seem to some/many that a $300 bottle of booze is a petty reason to ditch P1 status, but if Red Roo still does peruse these pages, this is one reason a P1 bowed out. Not that there was any contact from Qantas when it happened.......

Did you ever notify Qantas that you did not receive the gift?

My Sendle package was delivered by Fastway Couriers.

Give your nearest depot a call and they will be able to locate your consignment using your address/name and then organise your next move from there :)

Fastway Couriers - Courier Services - Franchise Opportunities - Contact Us - Australia

Well unfortunately this was not the case for me.

I called the Melb number and after 20min of waiting they informed me that no way no how could they search on anything except a label number, or a card number(which is on a card they're SUPPOSED to leave when they can't deliver - like the post office does).

Well I have no card no reference number no nothing. Pretty frustrated.

Meantime Sendle did get back to me, but they are not great either. I did finally find the small confirmation number(which looks like a PNR reference) burried at the bottom of the email. Frankly this is poor - this stuff should be hilighted better IMHO - both on the email and on the tracking page(but I digress)

And sendle only allow contact by email. I mean seriously?! Why can't I call them? Why do they not provide the local courier details and that agent's tracking number?

It makes it so hard because now the tracking page says the parcel is being held in Melbourne and if it's not delivered in 5 days it will be returned. Well given the slow pace of trying to get anything organised this may happen. Beyond annoying.

However this turns out I will give the SST some feedback that it's lovely for the gift, but for me at least it's been a shambles and maybe they should consider using another company than sendle because the lack of information, transparency and ability to contact them in a timely manner are driving me spare.

So my saga continues! :)

Could be worse, mine got sent to the ex wife. They obviously didn't check my address had changed in the last 6 months.

Oh well, hope she enjoys it......

Addressed to you? I hope she doesn't open your mail.. and be caught with the *consequences* of doing so

ouch!!! I think I'd contact the SST on that and wonder why they would not use updated details!

So quick update on where mine is at...

so finally some movement at the station(as it were) as Sendle actually just phoned me so I was able to have a proper conversation with a human about my concerns which they understood and promised they'd pass on the feedback to Fastway (ie: no card left or attempt to contact me from the driver).

So they are redirecting(at no cost to me, but probably to QF) the parcel to my work because I know people will sign for it there at all times and I don't have to be at home waiting around.

I was frustrated though because I asked if it could be delivered tomorrow(Sat) - my gift last year was on a Sat morning - but no only M_F apparently which is really inconvenient for a working slob such as myself.

She then offered me a tracking number for the current order(because I mentioned I was frustrated there was no information on the tracking page or email about the actual delivery company and their tracking info so I could deal with them) and I thought that's useless because she said a redirection would create a new order or something (yes, this reeks of further stuff up to me!) so I thought don't bother even though my initial thought was to tell her not to bother and I'd just talk to fastway myself, but then I realised they'd charge me to redirect it, and that's BS.

If I'd ordered something I'd paid for I'd be as mad as hell with the pretty poor service tbh - both Sendle's lack of transparency, their cheap outsourced customer service(the person who called me was almost certainly not based in Australia) and then Fastway who didn't do what they should do and leave a contact card or at least have tried to call me. A combination of stuff ups in my view.

So, we'll await the next step :)

(this thing I may have to leave settle for another year as all the transport it's having it will be well shook up.. opening could mean half of it disappears in a burst of foam and spray! :p )

Am still overseas but this arrived at my home - and my wife enjoyed receiving it!
Thank you Qantas, Merry Christmas :)

Mine is still in the limbo between Sendle and Fastway. I *think* it's bound for my office now....

Oh well. After 5 years at P1 it ran out in September due to a period of redundancy. I'm back to flying like a loon (over 1000sc's in 2 months), but can say that while I miss getting a lovely gift I don't value it as much as my 6 months no fly period!!!
The only other real difference I notice is the ability to seat select front row economy on domestic, and getting the occasional P1 complementary upgrade. International J seat selection seems the same and so far a 100% upgrade success rate on domestic and international flights on requested upgrades.

I've never had "stress" about the gift - either getting one or what it was - but it's still nice to get

and yes, finally after a week or more of stupidity I have it on my desk. Thanks QF. Not sure I will wait till 2024 though :p

Sounds like you're likely to get back to P1 pretty quick so might get a gift next year.

Over the weekend I took 3 QF domestic J flights and noticed on all 3 the CSM's went out of their way to greet me and note my P1 status (and on one sector I think a CL in front of me and an EK elite behind me were also specifically welcomed).

I have no idea if this is a deliberate change or I just got lucky with 3 CSM's in a row, but there seemed to be a change (as I had a flight late last year where my status was also recognised) in recognition.

Anyone else notice a more consistent approach (maybe the ipad issue has been resolved????)

I flew to LAX on 93 on Saturday in F And the CSM made a heck of a fuss, although in saying that that's happened once before. Whereas on QF36 back from SIN on New Year's Day in J I didn't get the time of day.

I guess in typical QF fashion YMMV.
