To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

I’ll easily requalify in my own right for P1 for 2023 but the 1800 rollover will be a welcome bonus for 2024.
Also hoping we get the 30K points, that’s not too shabby and will cover a J-F upgrade on SYD-SIN.
Probably better uses of it but that’s what I have my eyes on as current request in.

I’m with @Matt_01 though with the CL invite. That was very nice last year.
Perhaps they could do that for those who re-equal without needing the comp?

Anyone else apart from myself and @aus_flyer get offered 15K points ?
Just trying to work out what the P1 algorithm is.
Is there any relation to the status window. I have a Jul end date and was offered 30K points and will be P1 to Jul 23 anyway, so no extension here. On the other thread it appears that WP with roll over dates of post Jul are also reporting they are being offered 30K points.

Ah, that's a good point given those with YE post July will miss out on the status extension.

There’s at least two WP who have end dates January-June who got 30K
But yes I thought that the most likely explanation

With a Jul roll over I would have preferred an extension as I am sure I will struggle to retain P1 during the next 12 months, however them's the break's.

Well from some of these responses there appears to be no rhyme nor reason for 15k v 30k points offering - not even between WP and P1

It seems to be based solely on your membership year end:
Jan-Jun = 15,000 points
Jul-Dec = 30,000 points

No it’s based on whether you will actually get or use a Comp

July -Dec 30K points
January -June 15K points if you haven’t already requalified. 30K points if you have and therefore won’t be using the comp.

Doesn’t take into account forward travel bookings etc for those Jan-June who won’t need the comp.
Which actually makes things pretty interesting for those forward bookings.

Precisely.

I will absolutely requalify based on current forward bookings, but now wonder whether I would be better off crediting them to another program and just fall back onto the free comp.

Ah ok. Well this is annoying. I'm Jan-June, haven't yet requalified but will very soon based on forward bookings. Won't benefit from the comp but will benefit from the status rollover.
