To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Interesting experience at CBR today. I had checked my seat earlier in the week and got 4C, previously only 6C was available as is usual on planes where the seats can be rolled in out out depending on the need for J seats.

Touched the post with my card and was told I needed to see customer service. Saw the man at the front of the CBR J lounge and told him I had tried to check and gotten a message.

He scanned my card, said no problems and gave me a BP with 6C. I told him I had moved to 4C earlier in the week. He looked on the computer and said that a CL was sitting in 4A and that somebody cleared my seat to give him a vacant row. The way he spoke he knew who did it. He then changed my seat back to 4C.

It must have been changed close to departure because the pre-departure email showed me as having 4C.

Also, the plane must've changed because the seats in row 4/5 weren't adjustable.

Not sure if it qualifies as a P1 experience but while I can use the thread I will. :)

Made P1 end of October. No invites or Op-ups yet but the P1 team really helped with an ultra short connection in SIN due to a MH delay. 25 minute to change planes and terminals - baggage made it also. I think the lady driving the airport buggy is ex Formula1!

Did they anticipate that, or did you have to call for help?

I'm more interested to know who the CL in 4A was!

Do you know who the CL was and why it was so important that QF involuntarily move a P1 to give the CL three full seats to themselves? Must not have been too important if they were travelling in Y anyway.

Unfortunately, I have been moved involuntarily a few times now as a P1 to accommodate 'others'. Most of the time the move has been to an 'equivalent' seat so I just accepted it but one or two times the new seat was nowhere near as good as the original and I have had to dispute the move. The most 'interesting' involuntary move was to give a CL a shadow in J (A330) which was subsequently filled with what appeared to be someone on a J upgrade just before departure.

<snip>

No idea, I heard his name but didn't know it. He just sat there doing his Soduku having a quiet trip. He may not have even known that the QF employee had done it. He didn't seem surprised that someone was in 4C.

CBR is of course a very elite heavy port and the CSM greeted several people by name in the first three rows of Y. No list, all done by memory and done with a smile and genuine friendliness.

Had a good experience last night. I was in 4c on the 1805 Mel to BNE. I turned up early and asked if I could catch the 1705 even though I was on an award ticket. Not a problem and I was given 4c again. This was a pleasant surprise as I fully expect to have to take what's available when trying a last minute change. The crew went out of their way to say hello and ensure that everything was fine on a very full flight. Excellent P1 experience.

Any other MEL P1s going to the Boxing Day test?

Nope. I only have cricket down as an interest in my profile, and was told that I was top of the list for an invitation to the Boxing Day Test by the P1 team. So I'll be a little disappointed if it doesn't come through.* :-|

*Particularly after QF failed to invite me to the reception room at the Olympics despite flying F to the UK with QF at the time and WP's were invited!!!!!!

Slightly off topic, but along this line... did anyone else get a survey recently about their experience as P1?

Yeah i did and was most upset when i started filling it out and the first few pages were fine but then it came up and said something about because im
In WA im not eligible to go in the $500 voucher draw (i think thats what it was anyways)

So i did complete the survey and very much complained about this draw nonsense, i was like wtf man, how poxy is that!

Thats not nice at all hey, hopefulu your invite is still in the mail ;)

P1 team also said they would get back to me about the simulator experience earlier in october to be booked in for Dec 14th, no calls confirming my booking. So i didnt bother chasing it up as im too busy to attend anyways. Prob march now for that.

But a cricket invite would be awesome, oh well im sure the lucky members going will tell us how it was :)

I fear the worst. :(

To be honest there are people who do a lot more flying than I do with QF who are probably more deserving. It's being told that you are top of the list and then not getting the invite that I find disingenuous.
