Qantas TravelPass discussion

Has anyone used a TravelPass with DSC yet? How long did it take for the DSC to be credited?
I have done 4 flights booked with different TravelPass DSC offers but have not yet got the DSC credited (2 and 3 weeks ago). It says up to 6 weeks though, but was wondering if there is any experience here?
I'll also be interested to know... if someone pays taxes on a Classic Reward ticket using a TravelPass, do Points Club members earn DSC?

Any other experiences?

Update: got my DSC for flights in mid Feb today, using the DSC TravelPass to book the flights. 4 weeks after the first trip and 3 weeks after the 2nd trip
Thanks for sharing Chris, can you clarify how you booked and paid for your flights?

Assuming here you used a single DSC TravelPass for two separate bookings? If so, great to see having DSC on tap!

Hey everyone

following on from this thread

today just now I received an email announcing one of my credits has now been switched into a Qantas Pass - original bookin* was for a relative for which I paid the fare.... ( couldn‘t score a cash refund as I wasn’t the PAX even though I was the payer....)

EDIT further info “Introducing Qantas Pass (formerly Qantas TravelPass)

This is brilliant if they are proactively exchanging flight credits for TP's - far more flexible !

EDITED to clarify: when you say you couldn't score a refund so you mean you called because the a flight was cancelled and you were offered the pass? (this has been standard procedure for some time) or did you receive this out of the blue? (which is how I first read this post)

I hope this is something that is rolled out to all credits. I would be rather happy if I got some (well I would be more happy if they had DSC, but beggars can't be choosers :) )

I'm curious about your initial flight credit, was this because you cancelled or was the flight cancelled by them?

The flight was cancelled in Nov 2020 by QF, and when I phoned the refund refused because while I had paid I WASN’t the PAX

and yes, this Pass email came 11 months later out of the blue

Flight cancelled by them and refund refused as I was NOT the pax

Just got a travel pass issued today. How is it any different than using a flight credit when making a booking. Or is the only difference that any balance is on the same travel pass rather than being issued with another booking reference number ?

It is MUCH more flexible.. more or less cash.

Flight credits have certain limitations in use such as multi city and the like are not able to be done with them (possibly by an agent) and there's stipulations on an equal or higher fare being used etc. They are coughbersome and not great to use.

a TP is basically a form of payment and thus can be used for pretty much anything. Possibly not on different currency transactions? Anyone know.. eg if I have a Pass issued in AUD can I still use it on a LHR-SYD fare priced in GBP? I assume they would convert the currency (with a bad rate) at time of booking, but that may potentially be a limit I can think of.

Definitely the preferred option, imo.

Happened to be talking to a colleague today who was having trouble using a flight credit and he mentioned QF told him there definitely is a program to progressively convert existing credits to Passes.. so this really is a good thing imo.

Do these come with a booking reference number? Or are the days of the DSC loophole coming to an end?

No. Passes do not have a PNR.

they come with a number and password to assign when booking as form of payment.

Yes, you are spot on

hadn‘t thought of it as cash but yes given the open ended options (eg you’re not tied into the original PAX name)

and
Under the QP conditions tab
  • Your Qantas Pass is issued in the currency as displayed. If you'd like to use your Qantas Pass for a booking in another currency, it will be subject to currency exchange rates at time of booking.

Are they still working on converting flight credits to Qantas Passes? I have a "missing" flight credit (I redeemed one for a lesser value flight and should have been issued a new credit for the balance, but it never came). I am trying to follow up on this without waiting hours on the phone, but so far no reply to an inquiry via the online form.

What's the expiry date for the pass? I have some credits with a current expiry of Feb 2022 which I got an email about today saying I'll get a pass, just wondering if they extend out to Dec 2023 in line with QF's flight credit policies?
