Hi, looking to purchase Korean air flight Melb to Seoul which has domestic leg (option to choose Qantas or Virgin) Melb to Syd with connection to Korean Air flight from Syd to Seoul.
Virgin option is about $50 cheaper, both flights depart from Melb at 06:00. Out of QA or VA, which do you think will less likely to be delayed and hence risk missed connection in Sydney?
Thank you.

That's a tight connection. You'll have less than 90 minutes to change terminals and clear security in a best case scenario. If there's a long delay or cancellation, there's a very high likelihood of missing the intl leg.

But as the connecting flight is ticketed through Korean Air if you miss the connection they will be able to rebook you at no extra cost for the next available service (Korean Air run a daily service). Personally I don't mind close connections and unplanned adventures but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

If you can't miss this flight, I'd consider contacting Korean Air for a connecting flight out of Mel on the same ticket for the night before the flight, hotel would be out of pocket.

Are delays likely for an 06:00 flight at all? That’d be the first flight for that crew, ‘plane, etc in the morning wouldn’t it? Is it like doctor’s surgeries where the chance of lateness increases as the day goes on?
