Hi,
I'm flying three family members economy return from Dublin to Sydney on Emirates at Christmas and they are giving me the FF points accrued (I'm paying for the flights). Where would you advise crediting them? I have no status but have quite a few Qantas FF points already.

thanks.

How many Qf points do you currently have? You should check what you have now and what flight it could get you (economy or business ticket) and see if your family member points will get you enough for a first class ticket. Also depends if you want to fly alone or take the wife/husband/GF/mistress.

Qantas is really the only option, as transfers from one family member to another are free. Emirates charge for transfers at a rate of $25USD per 1000 miles. You might as well buy a commercial fare if paying this much to transfer miles. No value there at all.

Is it a QF or EK flight number?
What is the booking class in economy (generic Y)?

These questions are probably irrelevant. Unless the travellers have status with Emirates, Qantas FF points earn will be the same as Skywards if on an EK code, and at least the same and possibly higher if on a QF code. Also Qantas is better full stop, because of the free transfers of miles, paying $25 to transfer 1000 miles is like paying $8k for a return J class to Europe, including taxes. Can get commercial fares better than that, without the restricted availability.

Do EK flights get QF points ? I am flying EK on HKG-DXB-WAW-DXB-HKG in Y. I'm an EK Gold and no status with QF. Previously had family fly EK SYD-DXB-WAW but got little points in QFF on the dubai leg and 0 on the warsaw leg.

How can I get the points to credit to QF instead of EK? My flights are listed in my bookings sections in both EK and QF profiles. How can I tell which flights get credited where ?

Just put your QF freq flyer number in the EK manage my booking (assuming its like QF's MMB). Or phone EK to have them change/add. However no QF sc's with an EK flight number

Actually ended up booking with Etihad as it saved about $1000! Thanks to Daniel at Flight Centre Redfern. Miles will get put into velocity unfortunately but i'll use them to go to Bali or something.

Thanks for the responses. SC's never came into it as you can't transfer those!
