Hello,
I want to take advantage of current sale prices and would like to fly J SYD-HNL but return in Y (daylight flight so no drama). Is this possible or will it be seen as two one way flights and therefore prohibitively expensive? Appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

Youd' probably need to book by phone to get it ticketed properly I'm not sure this can be achieved directly by web booking as I'm pretty sure it will assume same class in and out.

Alternatively a lot of the online aggregators will allow different booking classes so that might be worth a look too.

You can definitely book business outbound and economy inbound on the one booking via the QF website because I just tried it then.

After you select what dates you want it will show the lowest economy fare for those dates on the calendar but when you click on the flight selection you want and proceed to the next screen it will display all the different fares eg Sale, Saver, Flex & Business Sale.

From there you would select Business Sale for the outbound (AUD2,035.00) and Sale on the inbound (AUD561.00) if you want the cheapest fare or a Saver fare (AUD657.00) will allow you to do a points upgrade to J on the way back plus more points and status credits than the economy sale fare.

Thanks for the advice people, and apologies for tardiness. The fare is so good I decided to go the whole hog and J both ways! Looking forward to the seats.

It was quite cheap for J plus you get Skybeds.

HNL is also handy as a starting off point if you want a few days in Hawaii before going to mainland USA or Caribbean as AA Kupp fares ex HNL aren't much more than ex LAX or LAS - maybe US $100.00 or so.

You could almost get to the Caribbean & back via the above method for the same price as BNE/SYD/MEL to LAX vv which would be around $6K return pp in J.

That's a great tip - thank you! I'll salute you with a Mai Tai on Waikiki!

Consider it dun! Australia Day long weekend for 10 days. I find Diamond Head a very, very relaxing place, not to mention cheap.
