Qantas: 'one of the worst airlines in the free world'

Sometimes but he just seemed to get up my nose not sure why

For me it was when he referred to other people in the lounge as 'the masses' - as if he is somehow special and not like everyone else.

I always thought the carrots were cut like that to be used in the juicer in the MEL J lounge??

I agree with him about the SYD J lounge being dirty. I almost always think that about it when I am there.

He could have made some effort to blur the people's faces in the various lounge pics. I'm not even sure if an airline operated lounge qualifies as a "public space" in terms of rights for photographing people, but I'm sure the young lady eating in one photo and the various others sitting in the lounge wouldn't be too impressed. Minor I know, but gee I don't know... in some pics it looked like some had expressions of disapproval of photos being taken but maybe that's my imagination.

When I take pictures I try to have them not focused on people (unless it's people I want and they are OK with it !!) or people at a distance.

just a side thought

Sounds like an absolute d@#khead but quite impressed with his Tasmania itinerary, might save up and basically replicate

Yet I wonder why he blurred his wife's face in only one of the photos (on the tarmac at HBA upon arrival) - I recognise her jacket, trousers and bag...

From reading his TRs on FT, I understand that she vets all the photos and lets him publish unblurred the photos she is okay with. The others get blurred.

Completely agree. Sometimes when I am doing a TR it is too hard to take photos as there are too many people and I am mindful of not 'featuring' them in the photos. I certainly wouldn't like to unwittingly feature in someone else's photos like that.

OT, but this reminds me of back in the 1990's with the inaugural flight of the 777(-200A) on UA I took a bunch of photos and stuff and it turned out I happened to get one employee in shot as she bent over to cut a cake and well her chest was very clearly revealed (this was back in the day of needing to get film developed etc ! ).. I posted it anyway thinking it wasn't "too" bad and the main point I had of the photo was the celebration cake they had, baloons and banner and all this.

Anyway it did not take long for someone to point out to me that this employee probably would not be impressed with the photo (as lovely as her, er, assets were) and it probably would be best for me to remove it (which obviously I did).

since then I've been a little more thoughtful when taking snaps to try and avoid such things, and certainly wouldn't post online.

What constitutes a ' photographer'? To me he captured all the salient things he was talking about. Not an art competition.
I get what you are saying. Yeah, he's documented what he's talking about fairly proficiently. But the boastfulness doesn't match the eye.

His TRs are a terrific resource, we’ve piggybacked on many of his experiences.... and will do so again with this Tassie report. Have a few bookings on our current trip due to his reports.

He’s toned down a fair bit over the years .... there use to be a “girls of xyz” in his reports.

I take lots of photos for TRs (not the same quality as his - I prefer convenience of a phone camera over quality) but I go out of my way to avoid people and inappropriate comments.

The lounge was disgusting and deserved comment. Handheld Dyson’s are cheap and effective!

Like adult and climbing childre’s shoes all over on seats in lounges, rubbishing and litterong on carpets transcends bogans thru ‘supposed’ well heeled (scuse the pun) is disrespectful to guests and staff alike. Plus increased expenses, ultimately increasing costs & value.

Don’t wear white trousers in lounges.

Hey. Don't downplay your phone camera. Some of my most published photos I took with a phone camera.

Started using my iPhone 7 for the first time semi seriously and pretty impressed with how some of the shots turned out especially some panorama's. And not sure I can really blame the phone for some that didn't!!!

We’ve just upgraded from the 7 to the XS purely for the camera enhancement.... very happy campers!

He should not of been using his phone or camera on the tarmac, usually the staff on the ground will stop you.
I believe it is a safety thing, you don't want to be there focused on taking photos and get hit by a baggage vehicle or sucked into the engine of a departing jet etc. because you did not see or hear them.

I've usually heard it being referred to as a security thing. Although I have heard the occasional 'for passenger safety'.
