SYDNEY: Qantas has named the new CEO of its low-cost Jetstar division to replace ex head Alan Joyce who is now CEO designate of Qantas Group.

The new appointee is Bruce Buchanan, who helped establish Jetstar in 2003 and has worked closely with Joyce to expand the brand both within Australia and internationally.

Buchanan joined Qantas Group from the Boston Consulting Group.

His appointment, which takes effect on October 1, tops a list of executive announcements by the airline which is preparing for Joyce to take the helm of the group from outgoing CEO Geoff Dixon.

Will be interesting to see if he is as successful as Alan Joyce and the logical choice to be next Qantas chief....
