Hi I just recently got the nab gold credit card. Want to know what people think of the travel insurance that comes with it?

I will be traveling to America next year should I get other insurance or is the included one ok?

Look forward to everyone's knowledge on this subject or if this question has been posted before could you point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Firstly, here's the booklet which explains all the insurance coverage offered with NAB Gold Credit card in detail:

As with any insurance policy, make sure you always evaluate the product offering to ensure that it will be right for your needs.

Disclaimer out of the way, I've used the insurance provided on their Gold debit card to deal with accidental damage before. The insurance for this was at the time provided by Chartis, and I found them quite reasonable to deal with.

Having said that, according to the policy document the insurer for all coverage is now Chubb Australia.

You also need to remember that you must have purchased at least $500 in pre paid overseas transport costs using the NAB Gold credit card prior to travel in order to be covered. Coverage does not apply if this minimum amount has not been paid prior to departure using the card.

It's also good to know that coverage is still available if travel or accommodation arrangements were funded using a frequent flyer program. If considering other policies and part of your trip is being paid for using points, evaluate these plans to see how you're covered.
