Qantas MMB - Kids at play ... again ....

Hump-day grumpiness ....

Booking through my CTA, I *always* have to edit my contact details (as well as select seat) in my booking. My Daytime contact number - for example - defaults to my desk phone rather than my mobile.

Three times .... THREE TIMES .... today I've tried to alter the Daytime Phone number. THREE TIMES MMB just ignores the change!!

Email contact, Mobile Number, Destination Phone ... all successfully changed. THREE TIMES I've tried to change the Daytime Contact Number (even after going and selecting seats) ... even after blanking it out and getting the "Daytime Phone Number must be entered" error message and then entering my mobile number. Ooops default stored .... GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Seriously Red Roo do Qantas EVER test software changes before accepting them from whichever school you subcontract to??

There ... rant over ... gee, that feels better ... now back to trying to change this number ... !!

Let's turn this rant in to something constructive...

From today Australia-based customers who visit qantas.com will experience a brand new homepage. Sorry to ask an elementary question, however can you confirm whether you've cleared your cache and cookies before trying again?

If so, I'd appreciate an opportunity to follow up internally. Please send me a private message with your Frequent Flyer number or booking details as reference. Also, let me know which browser and version number you're using.

haha this happens to me all the time. I have just learnt to ignore it. I don't even receive etickets anymore and can't get them sent from MMB because it just errors.
 
What number is stored in your QFF profile?

There is no "Daytime Phone Number" in the profile, unless "Business Phone" counts. Yes .. it's similar .. but two points:

1. For some reason, the Daytime Phone Number defaults to a "BNE" suffix - I suspect this is something that is added by the CTA. This doesn't happen with bookings I make online.
2. Functionality that worked last week (the ability to maintain your Daytime Phone Number) is not working this week - REGARDLESS of what the value may or may not be on my profile

Only asked because I also get random variations of phone numbers that sometimes seem to be dragged from my profile. Can't think of specific evidence based examples. But as someone who uses gift vouchers a lot, the initial voucher will often not have a phone number, or will just be my mobile. When I use that voucher, the subsequently issued gift vouchers will pick up my QFF number and seem change the phone numbers to match the profile, just based on my recollection. There is also an issue that my work number and home number have different area codes, but the numbers on bookings often have no area code.

anyway, most of this makes me think they just revert to the mobile number if needing to contact you.

There are only 3 types of phone number people could have. Work, Home and Mobile. In my case, I don't use the home landline and the work number gets work, not me. My mobile is all three (not that I can use my phone while I'm at work).

Why does it even require having something in all 3 phone fields? It should only require one number, with a statement saying which one is preferred, then have the others as optional

Upon investigation, this error is a known issue with some 3rd party bookings made using systems other than Amadeus (Sabre, Galileo etc...). It is not related to the new look qantas.com page.

The matter has been reported to Amadeus who are currently working on a permanent solution. In the interim, your travel agent can amend the phone field in their own system.

Hope this clarifies, and assists with future bookings.

It only requires 2 numbers. Just saying.

The travel agent I use (for when I can't do my own booking online) uses Galileo and the contact fields pop up with CBR <phone number>. I've never had an issue changing them on the airline websites using Amadeus or Sabre. (have yet to try this on the new QF site)
