I don't often use QF between major ports in the post 5pm timeslots, as its too expensive, but am doing so today.

They have just put on the 'main' food service in the MEL business lounge and frankly its pretty good. Lord knows I've been a critic of QF this year, and there has been a thread called 'business class slop'. But tonight's pulled pork and warm cauliflower, sultana and coughin salad would be welcome at any other airline's F lounge, I think.

Well done the QF MEL kitchen staff tonight.

I am not that frequent a visitor to that lounge, but have found the Melbourne and Sydney business lounges very good of an evening. A bit more variety in Melbourne (again, note limited exposure to be honest). One evening there was a very nice octopus salad. Made up for a rather pathetic sandwich as dinner on the 7pm flight from Melbourne to Canberra.

The Canberra business lounge on the other hand leaves me pretty underwhelmed - perfectly fine but nothing that special.

Glad you are enjoying and took the time to post!

Here in ADL QP it's the same old pasta dish again. Maybe I should visit MEL J lounge when landing tonight... :)

Well done the QF MEL kitchen staff tonight.

And well done to them also about 10 days ago when they rustled up some hot food for me "out of hours" when I had just had a 5 hour delay on one flight and was facing another delay on my next flight.

Giovanni the waiter was very helpful too.

I'll let you know what they have on offer tomorrow!

The QF J lounges are the main reason I fly QF over VA

As most of my travel is MEL/SYD/CBR I have the pleasure of enjoying a great lounge on QF :)

It's due to the change in contract where the lounges are now being staffed by Accor/Sofitel? and it is a change to Island dining.

I was there this evening and they had these small pulled pork buns with some cucumber/salad that the guy was making for people. Also had mini cupcakes with coloured "discs" the same as the new uniforms - navy, red and pink. There were also some different salads to the usual and croutons with the soup (one I've had before - tomato and edamame, the croutons are new AFAIK).

I did see the same cupcakes in the QP.
