The recent talk about Qantas' problems with their cost base and the fact that the legislation binds them to maintain their fleet in Australia made me think - what happens to the aircraft when parked in other countries?
What maintenance is performed while sitting in LAX or LHR?
The wings that were just damaged to the A380 and 747 in LAX, for example, surely that can be fixed in LAX?
Also, is it feasible for Qantas to have to maintain all the different types of aircraft in Australia anyway?
In my opinion, this is the only part of the legislation that should change to help Qantas, at least in some ways. If it's cheaper to maintain the A380s in Dubai, why not?
