Long time FF (Platinum QFF), travelled extensively in Asia Pacific, was refused entry to the Qantas Lounge in Wellington NZ recently, booked on an Air NZ flight to Melbourne (no Qantas flight option available for a return, on that occasion), told by the immediately intolerant master of the desk (just unneceeary hostility) that it is "in the Contract" that it is not allowed . News to me, i have been using Qantas Lounges when booked on other Airlines for more than 10 years, the only proviso has always been "No Flight calls". This has applied in Japan (Narita) Bangkok, Hong Kong, London (once) etc., often including one guest. So the Rule has changed, or the proctice brought "into alignment" with the existing Rule ?? (as they smarten up the lounge entry arrangements).
In any case, still no need to be so rude, especially so early in the morning !

Welcome to AFF mharvie.

IF you have managed Qantas lounge access when flying 'other' airlines then you are extremely lucky unless those airlines were One World airlines.

What they have told you is correct.

The rules were changed many years ago: no lounge access for Plats unless you are flying QF/Oneworld that day. It was the subject of considerable controversy at the time.

Where these non-Qantas airlines members of the OneWorld alliance? If so that would explain your past experiences. Air New Zealand is no a member of OW; that would be the reason for no QF lounge access.

I was flying BA LHR to Leeds and was denied access to all lounges.
QC member PS at the time. Not the biggest deal but it did make me wonder. More recently no lounge access as a VA WP flying VS LHR- EDI. You can hardly call VA-VS a partnership when you can't get into the Loft.
