Re: Qantas iPhone check in

This worked well at boarding. I was officially the gate chicks first iphone boarding pass. You get a seat slip at the gate to evidence your seat.

So not really saving on paper then, as a few news articles I have read suggest.

Re: Qantas iPhone check in

The paper at the gate would be about 1/3 the size of a standard BP and about 1/10th of an A4 BP printed at home.

About 50% of the gate BP is blank which I would hope can be reduced with better printer configuration.

One thing I don't get about this is why the online check-in process hasn't been modified so you can have the BP sent to your mobile instead of downloading and printing the PDF.

Just seems odd they've not enabled this, as I might prefer to do the check-in for seat selction, but use my mobile to actually board at the gate (and drop bags if necessary).

Tried on a Blackberry Bold 9700 today.

Went in to the Your Bookings - Frequent Flyer No (it has saved mydetails)
Select Flight
Check-in button down the bottom.
Up pops flight details (didn't appear to be ability to change seats). OK
No aerosols sscreen (OK)
Type in mobile number (did not pull from QF profile)
Confirmation Screen. SMS sent, or Click Here.

Click Here. Error Message "Boarding Pass Expired. The boarding pas requested has either expired or is invalid. Please contact Qantas on 13 13 13"

Received SMS 30 secs later - link has same issue.

Online OLCI worked fine, Seq 8.

So 0/1 here. Will try again for the return on Thu night

Edit: An hour later with a Refresh the barcode pops up, so appears to be some delay before the 'boarding pass' is uploaded to the external site. The link is to a secure qantas.iconfirm.aero site.

Will see how it goes at check-in tomorrow.

Edit. Had to shift flight earlier. Wthin 3hr cutof so could not Select Seats. Thus had to do Online OLCI. Once you check in online, you cannot issue a mobile boarding pass.
