from news.com.au:

A QANTAS jet was grounded after a dog in the cargo hold escaped from its cage and snacked on parts of the aircraft's interior.

Of course they show a photo of an A380 but the text notes an A330 operating AKL-MEL.

Bad form to have a dog running loose in the cargo hold half way across the Tasman! On which flight number do QF run 330's AKL-MEL?

They obviously need to look at the design of the travel cage and its latch mechanism. I am sure this is not the first time an animal has managed to escape its travel cage mid flight. Could give the baggage handlers quite a task to contain said animal. I have seen reports of animals causing all sorts of havoc as they escape their confines and run all over the airport precinct until finally captured.

QF25/26 operates trans-Tasman as A330-200 on some days (with continuing services to/from LAX).

It did, but not anymore. I hadn't initially noticed that the incident occurred in early December.

By the way. Where are those A332's that were operating into LAX plus the brand new one operating now? Certainly not into HNL as some had speculated

The A332's are generally on the longer of the A330 flights (Mumbai, Shanghai etc) , with the A333's on the shorter legs.

What we really need at this point is a TR from the dog!

are you sure that picture is of a 380?
When I posted the link this morning, there was an A380 picture on the main news.com.au page and another A380 pic in the actual article. Seems like someone has complained and they found an A330 picture and updated their site.
