Hello all,

A quick and trivial question for the forum-

I've been lucky enough to preallocate seat 1K on a LHR - HKG - MEL flight qf30 in July. Am happy about this as it saves me forking out 60K for a points upgrade :)

Does anyone know if i'll get the comfy lambswool doona to curl up in on my travels, or is this only for "real" first passengers.

thanks.

I have used points on several occasions for an F class SYD-SFO/LAX and I get treated the same as every other F class pax. Just hope QF30 in July is a 3 class config with F class.

Edit: should have read the question correctly. answer No.

Thanks for the quick reply Maca34, i think my question was a bit vague, so i'll clarify--

i'm assuming there will be no first service on QF30 injuly, as i was able to allocate a seat in the first class cabin- the seat map is a 4 class 747, and it is being sold with J/ PE and Y service only.
I am wondering, in this instance if the bedding (ie doonas) for the first class seats are still used, or is it the usual J blankets.

my life doesn't depend on the result, just curious..

thanks

Unfortunately, if it is a 747 3 class, then the extra liitle pleasures such as the lambswool underlay are not loaded onto the plane - though you do get the benefit of a fully flat bed, the older seat, the big table etc: gradually all the 747 fleet are going to be replenished with new seating, etc.

Not as nice as F, but sthe smaller cabin area is still a nice way to travel (did the LHR-HKG that way in January).

Enjoy!

Speaking of wool, disappointing that Qantas did away with their association with the woollen mill in Tasmania that produced the red business class blankets. I managed to score myself two before they changed to the current, sub-standard cotton-or-whatever design. They're grand.

We've done this twice and to be as clear as possible, our experience is this: literally all that is different is that you are seated in the F cabin (and you have access to the F toilets, which are quite nice themselves, with the occasional leftover Payot amenities).

You still check-in, lounge and board using J services (except those F services available to WPs). You still get J food. You still get J amenity packs and pyjamas. You still get J blankets and pillows - no sort of mattress or doona (not having flown QF F myself, not sure exactly which of these you get). We even got the coughpier blue blankets on one leg instead of my favoured red/inner sheet blankets.

But in the end, it was a fair trade off - the bed is definitely better than the Skybed, and the cabin has better views and is much cosier (although the LED lighting can be a bit more intense than in the J cabin).
