I couldn’t find an appropriate thread, but please merge if there is one.

Since at least 2019 I have had issues selected Qantas seats through MMB online and the app. I’ve been WP the whole time but I never (rarely?) get access to the seat map I just get the screen that lets me preference window and aisle. When I’m on a booking together with the my partner (Gold) we can select seats, including ones normally only available to WP members and the assignment sticks. I have no issues selecting seats at check-in.

It’s not really been much of an issue through the pandemic but I’m starting to travel again and want to get it sorted.

As I write this it seems to date back to me first joining business rewards under my own ABN and then being booked flights under a clients BR account. There was a period where they couldn’t complete a booking with my FF number in the account.

I could ask if anyone has a number or email address of anyone who might care to read a detailed bug report on act on it. But given the likelihood of any action I’ll just comfort myself that I have whinged into the wind.

Sadly the answer isn’t so simple. Mainly this is an issue with being able to select 6A on a 737-800, which really isn’t all that. It’s not being able to snag 2K on and a330 is where it gets annoying.

To add my experience to this thread: I've booked four tickets from Sydney to UK via Dubai for May 24. I booked them using the Qantas website as a FF and used most of my FF points/miles to do so. I even get the following text appear against my flight, with a link:
https://book.qantas.com/pl/QFServicing/wds/tripflow.redirect#traveldocs-promo-id
https://book.qantas.com/pl/QFServicing/wds/tripflow.redirect#visaandhealth-promo-id

STANDARD SEAT SELECTION

Complimentary for Frequent Flyers on Qantas flights when booking direct

However when I click on the link it also allows me to only select a seat preference: window or aisle.
Text comes up stating that individual seat selection is not available on this flight.

Any comments on this gratefully appreciated as well as for the OP of course

Are you logged in to your FF account when trying to do it, or just in MMB?
I've seen it before, but not sure what caused it (and it self-rectified, for specific seat selection)

I'm not sure what MMB is but I am certainly logged in as a FF as I have to be to even view my flights

For your next booking, maybe try not associating your FF # and see if the seat map loads. Does it then break once your number is associated? Or dissassociate via Finnair and take a look?

Are they appearing as QF or EK flights? I'm guessing EK?

Have you tried doing it on the Emirates website?
I can help with this as I fly to Dubai regularly (well I did pre-COVID).

The flights have a QF flight number but they are actually code share with EK - meaning they are actually on EK metal. You can't usually do seat selection on QF web site when it is not their aircraft doing the flight. So you have to do it on the EK web site (or the web site of whichever airline is operating the flight). I also have had to do this with mixed tickets eg QF to SIN, then AY to HEL - had to log in on Finnair web site to select a seat for this. You might be able to access your booking on the EK website by putting in your booking number (PNR) or even better, your e-ticket number that you will find on the emailed e-ticket. If none of that works, a phone call to Emirates will see it sorted in no time.

I have not always been able to access it on the website, despite having the PNR or e-tiket number, seems random. So sometimes you do have to just call them.

I'm not currently signed up with Emirates. How do I use their website to access my flights? Can I sign in with my Qantas credentials?

I'm not either. Just go to the web site and select the Manage Booking tab. Insert your details and away you go. But as I said, sometimes this randomly does not work so you may still have to call them.

I have seen in the past (though can't remember actually which OW partner it was with) that on the eTicket there is a PNR separate to the QF one and that is the one that works for the partner airline. The QF PNR doesn't. Just something to be aware of.

QF PNR's will be accessable on the EK website, and I agree that is the way to go with the QF codeshares on EK flights.
