Qantas is sorry (again)

I think her honeymoon with the staff is already over. She hasn't said the right things to them at all. Not unexpected really, as she's simply a dish from the same crockery set.

What changes are staff expecting?
 
Have never seen newspapers in a QF lounge for a very long time now, neither have I seen them at the gate, or on QF aircraft.
Think if I remember, they took newspapers away pre covid, even.
The Australian Financial Review used to be smuggled in occasionally and left for others to enjoy 🙂.

I still take The Oz hardcopy with me on board to fill in the time. Lots of content much easier to find than in the digital version.
 
Sorry weary, change weary but not much has changed.

It’s great they realised they made mistakes and said sorry, and thank you very much and now I can go book with the competition.

I will say all the problems QF is and has had I have had no problems with them, got my refunds promptly, no lost bags, no fake flights that were never going to fly.

It certianly is now that they have 'enhanced' their online version, it's a dog's breakfast.
 
Perhaps I have jagged it right.

I abandoned QF in 2021, except for redemptions, trying to get my points balance down. Went to VA, quickly got to Plat ( never got to Plat flying Qantas domestic only in all of 15 years) and have had few issues with them ( wifi is one).

Flew Star Alliance to Europe and that was very good.

Now with much more international flying on the horizon for me, I've got a couple of QF itineraries booked. So, if VH can get things moving quickly on the customer service front, hopefully I won't regret it.
 
And in the mean time just keep increasing executive salaries and bonuses and keep firing and not replacing front line staff.

I have zero doubt that board of directors of any corporation are a cancer that needs to be removed. There has to be a different way. An easier way than the path we've allowed them to take where the rich gain even more and the poor suffer.

Nope a set number of seats in each class per flight based on the aircraft type (so more J seats on a plane with a larger J section i.e. A380 vs B737) released at a set number of days is best.
How about we just let people use their hard earned points anytime they want not anytime the airline wants us to use those points.

And no, not ridiculously priced any seat awards. I'm talking about if there's a seat available for sale then let someone book that seat for the classic award rate.

And while we're at it, get rid of stupid surcharges. I've earned those points the hard way not credit card signon bonuses.

That is never going to happen. Qantas have 177 billion frequent flyer points currently outstanding.
 
“Airports” aka “airport control” is nothing to do with the airport. It’s simply an internal division of which group controls what’s happening on the aircraft. So, I suspect the airline person was quite correct, and you simply misunderstood who they were referring to.
You could well be correct, but I’m very dubious he had any idea what he was talking about for the simple reason my oldest daughter was already separately booked and seated in an exit row seat on the same flight. I’m fairly sure he was in the “completely clueless and just tell this customer anything to get rid of him” basket.
 
Nothing to stop you booking seats as they are reliably released and cancelling or changing if plans change. Whereas for those who need certainty of departure and return in order to book other arrangements and get employer to approve leave, can't easily get a refund of paid ticket to use points instead later without material financial loss.

This would only be financially viable for an Airline if the only way to earn points was through flying, and there were no ways to get 100k+ points for only a few hundred dollars.
