That is a big leap of faith then as it will massively change the economics of the operation. 10 or so hotel rooms a night and the need to get a catering operation in place won't come cheap! Perhaps they will expect BNE crew to operate and drive down?

Perhaps not such a stretch considering a lot of QFLink crew tend to live on the GC. If they chose the 717 instead of the 737 it'd make more sense ;)

the x4 perday schedule on SYDOOL ,post daylight saving end next year appears to have better separation now
with Flights ex OOL at 07:20,11:45,13:05 &16:00
ex SYD 09;35,11;00,13:55 & 19:15.
Chatting to an FA last week on my way to BNE,she indicated the BNE crew base is very happy as a large number live on the coast.
She said bidding for the early flight will be keen as it save the motorway trek. Also previously the overnighting crew all stayed in hotels ,so considerable cost savings
here as well.

4pm for the final evening service OOL-SYD is terrible for trying to do a day's work at OOL and then heading to SYD that evening. It used to be 5:40pm (6:40pm during DST). Unfortunately, it means that I'd have to move back to VA for the evening flight to SYD after work.

Also, AFAIK, since the re-commencement of QF services into OOL, all the SYD-OOL-SYD services were turnaround operations, so they didn't have any QF crew overnighting in OOL for these flights. By cost-savings, do you mean compared to back prior to when QF pulled out of OOL?

I also find it hard to believe that QF now have the same number of daily QF services on OOL-SYD-OOL as they have on BNE-CNS-BNE.

I will be on this flight in J on Oct 25 to MEL. Any other AFFs on board too? J is looking very empty at the moment. I'm not quite sure if the launch date was optimal with the GC600 on at the same time?

The early flight to SYD and late return to OOL looks very attractive now :)
Only if you have transport organised already and Gold Coast area is your final destionation.

By the way there used to be a ~6:40pm flight ex-OOL. What happened to that one? Re-timed to earlier in the day?
