Qantas is adding plant-based meals to its inflight menu… did this actually happen?

In late October 2021 there was various reporting that “From November onwards, Qantas will roll out a new menu across its international flights and in the lounges including a number of new plant-based options.”

Can anyone please confirm whether this actually occurred?

I am due to fly MEL-LAX in J later this week and there is no Menu Select (is that even a thing any more??), no visibility of inflight menu and no response to my various queries to QF.

Essentially I am trying to ascertain if I need to request a special meal (as I have always done in the absence of Menu Select) or if there is indeed a new Qantas world order in which I can order from the regular menu (like a normal person).

I'm interested in this too - not because I only eat plant based food but they won't guarantee that any food is fish free and I don't want to have an anaphylactic reaction at 35,000 feet
 
Sorry if this is a silly question, but what's the difference between a plant based meal and a vegan meal? Or is that just the QF colouring-in marketing department justifying their job?

A vegan diet totally eliminates all animal products. A plant based diet is similar to vegetarian as in some animal products can be included. A person on a plant based diet may occasionally have meat or other animal products

It's all about proportion. From the boffins at Harvard ( What is a plant-based diet and why should you try it? - Harvard Health )

Plant-based or plant-forward eating patterns focus on foods primarily from plants. This includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans. It doesn’t mean that you are vegetarian or vegan and never eat meat or dairy. Rather, you are proportionately choosing more of your foods from plant sources.

Yes, I noticed that… means I won’t starve to death (just may be left hungry based on what those options entail lol).
 
This thread relates to menu items rather than a particular diet. Plant based menu items would never contain any form of meat.
Perhaps the thread was, but things had veared off into what a plant-based diet was.
 
As far as I know “plant based” is just a new age marketing term for a vegetarian (not necessarily vegan) food item…

OT, sorry, but 'plant based' is now a widespread and uneccessary trendy expression for simole things like fruit and vegetables:
