Qantas Hotel Fail

A return flight from Mt Isa to BNE is between $600-$800 for a disc econ seat on sale, so will just have to see what they say.

Given its a once a year event, I would think the compensation should be significant.

RedRoo is on the case for me now, so will see how that pans out. Surprised me with how quick he was actually. Maybe you should send him a PM too bablong?

I have booked through Qantas Hotels on 3 occasions. Once in Melbourne, once in Palm Cove and once in Hong Kong. Never once had an issue (those these were with large hotel groups, it sounds like the examples above may have been smaller independent hotels? Sorry to hear of those problems however, as would be a mighty pain in the ####. Also, the time I called the call center regarding a booking I got an Australian.

Likewise, only issues I've had was a hotel not giving points, but then I worked out it wasn't ever going to as it wasn't a partner. Since then, they seem to have removed hotels that wont earn (I had just assumed every booking they made would earn) and I've found the site useless.

Their hotel site should at least let you book a room everywhere they fly for instance, and it does not... though I do fly some outrageous places.

Glad that Red Roo is on the case again!

I have used the web site a quite a few times and never a problem.

I have actually had room upgrades, which never happens normally with QF.

I check there rate against other hotel booking sites and it is always at the right price within a few dollars.

You'll be doing well if you get more than a couple of movie tickets out of them :)

You're WP, PS people like me can't get away with saying that without punishment - permanent allocation to the middle seats *shudder*.

I used the website last month (for the first time in a number of years) to book a stay last night in Sydney. I was upgraded from a basic room to a junior suite for no particular reason... the hotel didn't seem too full, my rate was cheap, and I had never stayed there before. I would still rather stay at the Hilton, but the cheapest available rate was $600/night.

On this, can they see your QFF status on the booking? I know they can see the number, but not sure if the status had anything to do with it (if they were trying to poach business travellers as an example). :)

Just an update. Got a call this morning from one of the QFF people just wanting to know my side of the story for the whole saga, as he is collecting the information for the investigation. Then proceeded to fill me in on what they saw from his end which I wasn't privy to at the time of the whole event occurring. It's amazing what little courtesy calls like this can do in terms of perceived customer service. He'll be getting some positive feedback from my end anyway. The Australian based Qantas staff are excellent and will do anything to help you out, just disappointing the overseas contractors aren't always the same or willing to go to as great lengths to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Whole thing has now come to a conclusion. John called me again and said that he had spoken to the loyalty team and there were willing to offer me 10,000 points. My feeling is that as it was a computer issue on someone's end, there was no way this was going to be resolved in the near future. I accepted it anyway as it'll go part of the way towards my upgrade for my SYD-LAX flight coming up later in the year. Might have to look at doing a status run to get myself to gold the hard way hah.

We (4 in 2 rooms) had oppose to OP, took Qantas Hotel deal on way back from HNL last Sat. night at Sydney Airport, the Stamford Hotel was $203 for night plus receive extra 1000 QFF points, fast check in then 8 pieces luggage to room before we got there, beautiful quiet quality room with king bed, big bathroom, ate at pub/bar next door, could not fault hotel in any way, will stay there again.
