Business traveller has announced the winners of its annual contest:

The annual Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky awards, which recognise the best business and first class wines served by airlines worldwide were presented this evening (Thursday February 3) at London’s Thistle Kensington Gardens hotel by Charles Metcalfe, TV wine presenter and co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge.
Qantas walked away with awards for Best First Class White, First Class Red and First Class Sparkling, as well as Best Business Class Cellar, Best First Class Cellar and Consistency of Wines Across Business and First Class, which means it even trumped its previous haul of four awards in 2009.

Qantas have always impressed me with their in-flight wine selection but I'm puzzled that the Tattinger was voted higher than Krug or Dom Perignon. Obviously wine tasting is all subjective and those voting must have far better palates than mine, but to me Qantas' shift from Dom to Tattinger a few years ago was a big disappointment.

Obviously those in the know don't rate Dom all that highly any more, as the 2002 vintage scored 5th in both First and Business class comparisons. In that case Qantas, as it's so cheap and nasty now, please implement some cost cutting in the F cabin and bring back the Dom...

I wonder if there's a separate awards category for best in-lounge cellar - again I think Qantas would do well here as I don't recall drinking anything better than the Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin that's on offer in the Sydney F Lounge.

I actually am fed up in domestic J that it is always Riesling or Chardonnay for the whites - two grapes I avoid completely...
