Qantas Group to Launch WSI from 25 Oct and March 2027

I'll dare say that not starting up with all guns blazing is probably a more effective strategy. Slow and steady wins the race, so they say. We've seen airlines get too big for their shoes recently. Start it with a few flights, collect some data, change things up a bit as necessary then expand into the future as the market dictates.

We have family in nearby suburbs out that way, so WSI will be like flying into a private VIP airport for us at this stage. :p Certainly SYD is a better option for those closer to the city. Perhaps they need to market it as "the gateway to the Blue Mountains" or something cute.

My curious thought of the day: I wonder if they'll do AVV - WSI flights in future? Incidentally, I'm surprised AVV hasn't been marketed, except by Bonza, as the gateway to the Surfcoast!

Get JQ to do the heavy lifting at WSI and leave SYD with its proximity to the CBD and superior international network to be the more premium airport
Starting with 3 flights a day JQ is not exactly doing the heavy lifting either.

Was actually brought up on airliners.net that JQ started with a higher frequency at AVV.
With 3 daily AVV-SYD and 2 daily AVV-BNE back in the 717 days in July 2004.
Albeit they reduced frequency when they commenced ops at MEL.
