Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Can someone please remind me how long you have to claim your 50 SCs after the 5th leaf ?

Seem to recall its 2 months, although my memory is a bit hazy !

I recall it’s ~90 days, so closer to 3 mths from achieving GT and having to choose SCs or pts.

Wow so this time around I tried to use the red energy 100% green power sign up to get the lifestyle leaf - not sure that it was worth it - it took me 4 months.

Red energy is hard to get customer service from. The initial sign up process was OK, but I never got the green energy added - despite requesting it on sign up.

Finally after multiple attempts to phone and get through, I had a day with lots of time on my hands so I called and stayed on hold for an hour - finally got through to a human and she was helpful, got the green power added.

Then I had to wait to get paperwork issued showing I was now a green power customer.

Then came the usual fiasco of dealing with QFF - initially the leaf did not get automatically added. So I had to contact QFF and request it.

They then asked me for my customer number. Done.

They then asked me for a copy of my bill. Done.

After a while, they then came back and said that I didn't have green power on my account (despite the bill saying I had green power), so I wasn't eligible. Went back and disputed it with them.

They maintained their position. I went back and disputed it with them again.

Then they said that I needed a bill which had a certified '100% green power' logo showing on it.

So I had to go back and query that with red energy. More back and forth. Red Energy clarified that they don't issue bills with a logo / symbol - the green power just appears as a line item on the bill.

So I went back to QFF (with the red energy email attached) and asked them once more to action it.

They asked me to wait.

Few days later, they apologise and ask me to wait again.

Few days later, they say they have referred it to a different team and do I mind waiting a few days more for a response.

Finally after 4 months - the Leaf got added. I'm still not sure whether it was due to someone manually adding it, or just really long delays in the system.

Anyway - IMO not really worth the effort unless you really need the 50 SC.

And I thought Red would be one of the easier wins for the 5th… people are finding an excuse to stay in a hotel (like I’m trying to line up a good reason for), others are having recycling picked up that they don’t really have, all because they can’t get the “Red” leaf.

Sorry to hear it was so much hassle - fair to say never again?

I was predicting that it would be a shemozzle... So Qantas did not exceed my complete lack of expectations. All I could do was laugh.

If you are in a rush to get a leaf I would say the Red Energy leaf could be a bit challenging.
