Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I am certainly thinking I might not bother to retain Green Tier again. I enjoy flying and 50 SC is not a lot out of the 1200 to retain WP anyway.
Agree at this stage. I have a whole membership year ahead of me - will revisit three months before the end to see if I still need it. Didn’t need it last membership year.

The beauty of achieving Green Tier in the last 3 months of your year is that you have 3 months to claim your 50 SC, so you can wait til your year ticks over and get a little kick start - can be useful if you deem you have a leaner year coming up

Yeah I forgot about this trick - I sat on 4 green leafs most of last membership year, and as I didn't need the 50 SC then, I thought I would wait to do it this year - but I forgot the whole thing resets lol - now I'm back to just 1 green leaf. I should have gotten the 5 green leafs last year, and then chosen the 50 SC in this year.

Another consideration about "needing it" is if you are still chasing LTG or in my case LTS else its kind of pointless. Otherwise the only benefit is for those who still need it and the more people who still achieve it the longer it will potentially stay (and this is completely in myself interest)

At the risk of Qantas changing the rules and then you can't get it at all.

The changes last year didn’t catch me out, but came close.

I’ll need to make a call whether to invest in the Accom category about half way through my membership year, and decide whether to hold the rest til October… would be annoyed if I did so and then the final tick (e.g. charity) is taken away

The Red Energy Greenpower is one of the new ways to get a new leaf, which is okay for me so far. Got 4 leaves with relative ease so it will keep me interested in the Green Tier SCs. I will revisit that feature after a year or so of seeing the costs.
