Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

For those of you considering booking Laneways by Ovolo in Melbourne, don't expect much for $240 per night.

I'm currently staying 1 night in a Downtown Studio room in order to earn my fifth leaf for Green Tier.

The hotel lobby is attached to a gastropub called The Daughter's Arms.
After check-in I was offered a glass of wine and a pack of potato chips.

The room itself is underwhelming, something closer to an Ibis Budget than anything else. The Internet connectivity is with TPG and is awful. Do not expect to do anything productive here, Speedtest reported D/L speed at 8Mbps U/L at 19Mbps (wut?).

I got room 209. There is zero noise from the street, thanks to there being no actual window in the room, only a vertical strip of glass bricks that let in a tiny amount of light from outside. Noise from the lift lobby is minimal but still audible if people are coming and going.

Samsung TV has only free to air channels; screen mirroring doesn't work, neither does the Chromecast on HDMI1. Bluetooth sound mirroring works so you can at least stream some tunes. The single HDMI port occupied by the non-working Chromecast is inaccessible.

The single door wardrobe contains an electronic combination safe, iron, ironing board, hairdryer. A single hanging rail with 4 coat hangers and a small bench space to open your suitcase. Bar fridge, kettle, dinner set for 2 - bowl & plate, knife, fork, spoon. 2 decent sized mugs and teaspoons. 4 glasses and a small carafe.

Large bench along one side of the room under the TV. Plenty of space to lay out all your stuff.

Mattress is king size coil spring, firm but not uncomfortable. 4 large pillows with Crowne Plaza label on the inside (again wut?)

Bathroom contains toilet, shower with rainhead, plus a tiny sink. Water pressure is good, with excellent hot water temperature. The sliding door is mounted via rolling wheels on a steel rail. One of the wheels came off the rail so I had to lift the door back in place.

Bedside table on either side of the bed with a lamp. Plenty of power points easily accessible next to the bed on each side.

Final verdict: acceptable for a single night stay in Melbourne CBD but otherwise forgettable. Would probably be OK at $160 a night.
Thanks for the review.

I booked in Laneways for the November AFF Gathering. Might change and pick up my green leaf somewhere else.

Cash is offered if you offset the flight at the time of purchase, i think the limit of points only is a glitch that only appears when you decide to offset after the initial booking. Offsetting later also often results in one having to chase the tick rather than it just appearing when done at the time of booking.

Thanks, I have definitely offset via cash after booking in the past. I’m also thinking that it is some sort of glitch

The terms and conditions of wine state it needs to be a case of 6 or 12 to be eligible for green tier. However there are a heap of single bottle wines with the green tier logo / in the green tier wine category. Has anyone purchased a single bottle since the change and had the purchase count?

Had occasion to call Red Energy yesterday and whilst on the phone I asked why my green leaf for GreenPower hadn't posted - had to get it done manually last year.
After an hour with the excellent, patient Lisa, it turns out that although my contract includes GreenPower, it had not been applied!
Options were to retrospectively add it - 4 cents per kW since November '23 - no thanks!
Or add it now and proactively offered $50 credit for this month.
Good customer service from Red Energy.

Last year I did a bottle of gin and I just did a bottle of wine with bonus points! Let’s see how it goes!

And the Wellbeing App Quiz is the leaf that keeps re-sprouting!
Day one of my new QF year, so naturally I choose my reward that I had timed thusly.
Then I had a proper gander at the new/rejigged categories to see how/if it would work for me going forward. I've only ever done the quiz once, and have never seen it again since.
No different today - I clicked on the link on my Green Tier page that took me to the app where (no) surprise - the quiz isn't there. Checked on my Green Tier page a couple of hours later and there it is.

I pulled the trigger on Green Tier recently, thinking I would need the 50 SC to retain Silver. Had to fly to Perth and back last week so got over the line easily. I now have 3 months to choose either 50 SC or 10k points for Green Tier.

Question is, do the Green Tier 50 SC count towards the 500 SC loyalty target?

Thanks for the updated hotels list! Have been looking everywhere for it. Whilst the MEL hotel options suck, all of my usual BNE Accor haunts are on there. I didn't expect that, I am sure there's a good reason for it but I will forego my Accor status benefits and use my $100 PCP QH voucher next time I go BNE to knock out my last leaf.
