Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

If anyone does the recycling pickups, it would be great if you could please let me know if the tick appears for each pickup (1, 2 & 3) immediately after you book & pay for the pickup or at a later stage. Thanks.

It shows up as soon as the collection has happened and the driver has marked it as collected.

Have used it for two collections now. Useful to get rid of a heap of old clothes, shoes, cables and soft plastics.

Book fully refundable flight, get your leaf, then be unfortunately unable to take said flight anymore. It's the greenest option possible.
I think this is a good idea but it seems like it doesn't work now, as Qantas will refund the carbon footprint when you cancel the flight within 24 hours.

I had 4 leaves and needed to get the 5th; only the Travelling and Flying options were available. Any cheap options to get the last leaves? :)

If you need to fly anytime soon, booking a flight and paying the offset in CASH at the same time is still pretty quick (even if the flight is months away).

Meanhwile, in @Mattg's article:

There's mention of being able to pay cash for the "Give back". I've only ever known it to be points - but I only started GT in what was probably Year 2 - circa sometime in 2023 I think.

It always struck me as odd that 3200 points from a possible 10k "reward" was taken by that leaf (slightly less if you timed it in a QF Market Place Sale).

Gosh - 111 pages of Green Tier discussion.

I haven't gotten that leaf for years, and I am wondering whether it still makes sense.

Just hoping I get some brain trusts guiding me here:

1. Leaf doing the Quiz in the Qantas Wellbeing App --> Does not exist anymore?
2. Offset your imaginary home in TAS --> Fee seems to have skyrocketed...
3. And when you do that, you order sustainable delivery --> I don't seem to be able to add it when doing 2.
4. I think there was some sort of charity donation as well that gave you a fourth leaf --> gone?
5. Buy carbon offset for a flight --> done and got the leaf.

So, this quick assessment gets me thinking it is not worth the effort anymore?

The latest options are described in Matt’s article linked above.

The Quizz comes and goes. Have you checked the Wellbeing app?

Holiday House offset replaced by a recycle pickup service (not available everywhere).

Charity still exists - points only.

Sustainable sips - green leaf wine is an option.

As are eco stays - if you can make that work.

Do you get the tick for each pickup when you book/pay for the pickup or after the pickup is collected? My area isn't covered by them. I am wondering if I can still count it if I enter an address in their pickup area with no intention of actually leaving items for them to pickup at the address?
After pickup is collected. Sorry don’t think it’ll work in your use case (unless you know someone who can leave something to be collected.

Now.. one of my ticks has been removed as apparently one of my council funded pickups inadvertently counted. They’ve expedited my next paid pickup as it can’t be later than August to still count for this year…

Thank.

Yup - checked the Wellbeing App over the last few months and installed and uninstalled it.

I live overseas with no local address in Australia, hence recycling and wine delivery is not really an option - sigh…
