Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I'm not sure I've seen this one asked before; I'm going to sort out GT for my wife, which will help push her over the threshold for WP, for the first time. My question is on the CO2 offset for a QF flight.

If I do the offset on a booking which I made, but where she is also travelling, will she also get the leaf for this, in addition to myself, or does it only go to the person that paid/redeemed points to do the offset? In the event of the latter, could she do the offset on a booking that I had made? Would that show up as on option in her bookings like it does mine?

Cheers,
Matt.
I have a feeling that I've purchased an offset on a join booking and it showed up for both me and Mrs Excel. But I can't recall exactly - I may have chosen the offset during booking. Would be greatly intersted in what you find.

I booked tickets for February 2024 and paid for offset at time of booking for self and Mr Flyfrequently.
Think it automatically did it for both pax.

Points (10 per $ spend) went to me but both got Green Leaf within 48 hours.

Have read on this forum that offset can be added after booking but may have to chase green leaf and have it added manually

Hope that helps @dairyfloss 🌱

I'm sure this has been asked and answered (only looked thru last 10 pages) ...

My membership year ends 31/12
I'm on 4/5 for Green Tier

Was planning to do the last donation in December to get 5/5 and choose 50SC for my 2024 membership year and get a head start for requalifying.

That should work ... right? Is there a date in which you have to choose your benefits by? I saw a pic in this thread of someone having to choose their benefit by 31/1/24. Is this date linked to their membership expiry date?

Sorry for the silly questions.

Good plan. I think, like the loyalty bonus, you have 90 days to select your reward.

I'm same 31/12, few weeks ago ticked off last 5/5. Chose the 10k points.
App still says green tier till 31/12/2023.
No ability to get started on the green leaves for next year.

I only assume in January they'll reset.

Yes.

BTW, as mentioned up thread, my dashboard reset at the start of my member year on 01 Aug but the Quiz leaf (“Reduce your impact”) was already there. The quiz had also returned in the Well Being app weeks/months prior - which I’ve not redone yet.

I’ve not had to chase up but you could try email [email protected]

Forward the confirmation email with the offset but change your email title to something like “Missing Green Tier leaf - Offset Flying”

Short email text saying you purchased the offset as per email below but did not receive green tier leaf.

Yep, you’re absolutely spot on.

To follow up my question - I’ve just ticked over to 5/5 in my last month of the requalification year.

I have until 31/3/24 to select my bonus option (50SC), which is wonderful, as the SC‘s won’t go wasted and will contribute towards requalifying.

Apologies if this has been asked before but has anyone tried to claim a tax deduction for “Give Back” donation? They‘re nominally $25 (or multiples thereof) but you can only pay using points: $25 = 3200 pts.

The confirmation email shows the $ equivalent. Fare game?

If you can convince your accountant to sign off on it, sure. It's then his problem.

Though in real talk, probably a bit of a stretch to try and claim that the 3200 pts you paid was $25.
