I want to buy myself vouchers to pay for an upcoming trip to HKG and PVG.
The problem is I want the ticket to fly MEL-HKG then stopover for a few nights before HKG-PVG, and then PVG-MEL in the end probably direct. This technically counts as a multi-city booking, so I'm guessing if I buy a voucher and try to book it won't let me do this? Or can I book a straight return then call asking to switch dates? But then I gather I'd incur fees, and in any case it might not be possible since when I enter MEL-PVG it tries to route me via SYD on the SYD-PVG direct instead of via HKG.
Anyone got any advice here?
EDIT: After playing around with searching, it might actually be cheaper to book straight MEL-SYD-PVG return anyway and tack on a cheap CX PVG-HKG return fare, but I'm still interested in the answer to this question.
