Qantas FY2016 results announcement - what to expect

I'm not the one who claimed anything was maintained. I sure as %^&$ don't need to be welcomed to the real world - since welcome to the real world was the point of disagreeing with the idealistic claim that service has been maintained. But thanks for your input.

I agree with you that levels have been cut. However I don't agree they have been cut to the point that it is no longer a quality airline and I cannot see anyway Qantas could have kept previous levels and still remain in business.

In before "profit is from removal of JASAs..."

;)

No A380 refresh announced. Same old business seats which I find strange comparing basically all competitors (and their own A330) have now gone 1-2-1.

They obviously feel they don't need to do it.

They majy just not be ready to announce it. It would have to be a logistical nightmare to manage how to refurb these properly.

I think Qantas (both through their staff and his leadership), have done an amazing job indeed. That an Australian airline can survive in the global market and still be a fantastic product is very, VERY hard work. Congratulations to them all :)

Well Said!

And over at the other domestic airline the most recent results were not exactly stellar

What an outstanding result. We should celebrate Mr Joyce's stoicism amidst the onslaught over the last 4 years of unwarranted criticism from ill informed politicians, resentful ex CEO's and bloody minded unions. Qantas has increased their profit while maintaining a quality full service airline product - and a robust low cost carrier in Jet Star. You only have too look as far as British Airways to see what happens to airlines that don't adjust to the changes in the market place.
Agreed fantastic result. But I believe we can still be critical where it is warranted.

Customer service has taken and continues to take a huge hit. I wouldn't call wait times of >1 hour quality customer service.

Low fuel prices and high fuel surcharges.

And the situation the opposition finds themselves in at the moment are all contributing factors.

I think I contributed 50% of those profits on my MEL-HBA-MEL day trip yesterday .... certainly Mr Joyce finally listening to the analysts etc to remove his "line in the sand" a couple of years ago has reaped the benefits which those same analysts predicted and which was holding back QF Domestic for so long.

Stellar results for QFi and Jetstar Group - though digging through the figures JQ Domestic appears to be gunning it compared with Asia (despite Mr Joyce's nod to JQ Asia in his presentation).

Freight must be a concern, also increased Corporate costs.

Overall, it's good to see the Roo flying high, hopefully the lifeblood of the Company (the staff) will all be recognized for their contributions; a bonus - while always nice to receive (though not after the taxman visits!) - can be a "cold" way to embrace your staff and thank them for the hard-yards.

Regards,

BD
