Off next week in QF7 in first. I wondered about the cabin ammenities bag we get and if I can use it on the 5 remaining domestic flights in the US, as there is pretty strict conditions now for fluids etc. On this trip, we have no checked luggage, so, For the guy's kit, the shaving cream and deodorant looks a tad large for the cabin fluid size allowance. Anyway, any one had these and were they of the size that still complies ok?

The shaving cream/deodorant are a small travel size - you can either leave them behind, or slot them into your LAG bag before security for your domestic flights. The tiny bottles of lotions I have always left in the amenity kit and not put into my LAG bag. Haven't had a problem with that method to date.

The women's kit had a deodorant that was 50ml/g so I expect the men's will be about the same.

Have both in my kit from yesterday's QF11. Deodorant is 30g/50ml and shaving cream is labelled 56g/2oz. Presume they both meet size requirement - but they are both aerosols and I can't advise if that is an issue for in cabin. Mine are now in checked luggage for remainder of trip. There are also small tubes of moisturizer, cleanser and skin tonic that are well within limit.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks every one, The TSA rules say liquids, including non inflammable aerosols 100ml or less are ok as carry on. Just need to put them in a clear 80cm or less perimeter clear zip lock type bag for inspection for the later flights. So, these should qualify no worries. As we are on 6 US flights, best sort out the issues now.

This is slightly OT, but I remember going through security during transit in Dubai where they did ask about separating LAGs. I hadn't even thought of what might be in the QF F amenity kit, so I didn't say anything, but was through the other end in no time. Wouldn't want to accidentally forget in the US of course, but did find that a little weird.

I thought security was pretty so so. We came off an Emirates flight from Nairobi and were in transit for QF2 - we had been travelling for 24 hours at this stage and totally forgot that I had stuffed two F amenity bags ( one male, one female) into my handbag. I usually leave amenity bags behind but these had a novelty value. anyway took my LAGs and iPad out my bag and not the amenity bags and nothing was picked up. Then when boarding QF2 there was a bag search. My handbag is very big, with two extra quite large zippered bits. I offered to unzip so they could search all sections, but he said not to and just searched the centre - seemed a nice waste of time.....
