Qantas FF seat availability

Owing to the inefficiency of a cruise company, we have to change our QF FF flight bookings from the US in May 2014. The initial bookings (Business) were made about 350 days before travel when there were a few FF seats available. Now, of course, no Business seats are available! Is it possible that Qantas will release more seats and if so, how will I know when these will be available? Is there a waitlist for FF seats? Ideally, I want LAX - BNE but if I can get Business or First seats, then I'd consider other routes such as DFW - SYD.

LHR-SYD Sept 2014: I been looking every day for a month & premium award availability, each day has got worse. When I looked today there were only two days in Sept 2014 where there were Classic Awards for Business class available on other airline partners, at higher points. There's been nothing on QF2 for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if it's related to the current changes in ASA award policy.
There is no award waitlist, all you can do is check daily, at the time the awards are released. And I don't think subscription services like Expert Flyer would alert you of award fares being released (?). Although Platinum status helps in seeking availability.

If you have Platinum status or above you could try calling QFF and asking if they would consider releasing award seats for your new dates (particularly given that you are giving up existing seats, they may be able to do this). If you're not then I don't think there's much chance unfortunately
