Qantas FF points confusion

I'd be very grateful if someone would tell me how Qantas can refuse FF points on a Dubai-Frankfurt Emirates flight that also carried a Qantas flight number. My Melbourne-Frankfurt business class flights were booked through Qantas by an agency.

However, flight delays (not my fault!) caused missed connections, including the Dubai-Frankfurt leg. The later flight, however, still carried the Qantas flight number.

As far as I can tell from Qantas' terms and conditions, I should have been eligible for the points, but my claims for missing points have been rejected twice.

Thanks in anticipation!

Welcome to AFF!

Was it a cash fare? When you were rebooked following the delays, were you rebooked onto another Emirates flight from Dubai to Frankfurt? On your new ticket/boarding pass, did it have the Emirates EK code or a QF number?

If it had the QF code, you should have got the points and status credits, unless for some reason you were re-booked mistakenly into a non-earning fare class. Although that's unlikely.

Otherwise, have you tried putting in an original routing credit claim? This basically allows you to get the points/SCs you should have got, had you taken the flight you booked.

Hi, Thanks for the rapid response.

The fare was full-fare business class. The substituted flight was a later Emirates flight that also carried a Qantas flight number on my boarding pass. Not sure how to put in routing credit claim...would appreciate any advice.

Many thanks!

You certainly should be entitled to full points and SCs if that is the case. How have you tried requesting the missing points so far? Why was your claim rejected?

I simply "claimed for missing points" on my FF account on-line - once using the Emirates flight number and a second time using the Qantas number. No reason(s) were given.

Pick up the phone and talk to someone at QFF in this situation, asking for original routing credit.

Qantas are generally good with Original Routing credit.

Did you manage to call them?

Markis is there a sticky or something where your advice can be posted for all QF related problems ? They do have a relatively good call centre that will sort most issues.
