Fees and taxes for a flight booked on QF using points to DPS are $127.51
QF ticket, flight number and reloc but a JQ aircraft
book the same flight on the JQ site and pay
fees and taxes are only $77.51
and to get a JQ reloc for seat allocation and internet checkin you have to call JQ (in Manilla)

same applies for CGK and LOP and I guess other destinations

Good one Qantas

does that include baggage? It may be $25 x 2 = $50 for the baggage inclusion. Just a guess but I don't really know

At least it's only a $50 difference. Before classic awards were available on the JQ codes, you could only book them on a QF codeshare (operated by JQ) and that meant paying QF fuel surcharges. When that was the case, several times I saw the surcharges on an award booking greater than the total commercial fare on Jetstar website - meaning if you were silly enough to make such a redemption, you would be effectively paying QF to take the points from you, and getting nothing in return for the points!

Every time I've compared JQ flights from the QF and JQ websites the extra cost via QF has matched the cost of checked luggage. QF fares on JQ include checked luggage. Coincidence?

Can you choose to remove the checked luggage if booked via QF?
When you book on the JQ website the checked luggage option is automatically selected (I hate when they do that) but you can remove it.

I don't think so.

I've booked a JQ domestic flight using a Qantas classic award (JQ flight number). I'm QFF silver. What is my baggage allowance?

On 'manage my booking' on the QF website it says "Eligible Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club members are entitled to an additional non ticketed checked baggage allowance." However, it also says: "Included baggage: 20kg / Additional baggage: Not eligigible".

Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - Jetstar Classic Awards

you get 20kg with award bookings. QFF status won't get you any further allowance on JQ flights

My sister who is a QFF bronze, booked a classic award flight on a domestic Jetstar Japan flight earlier this year & was able to select row 1 within the 'select your seat' function on the QFF website under the 'Manage your bookings' function.

Not sure if that is the norm, but I would say that's not too bad if you can get row 1 without paying more for it.

My sister said that she felt like a "rock star" walking off the plane amongst the snow at Sapporo airport as she was the first to leave the plane.
Hmm, but I'm thinking she hasn't been to the FLounge yet, which to me is a bit more plush than sitting on a seat on the first row of a A320. :)

Are you sure it was done on the QF website? Was the flight booked as a QF codeshare or as a JQ Japan 'GK' flight number?

Generally if you start off on the QF website it transfers you to the JQ site for completion of the booking if there is no QF flight booked (QF codeshare or QF metal flight).

For award flights? I think it stays on the Qantas site to complete the booking

Yes, my Sister booked a classic award flight on GK, & from memory the entire booking process for any Classic award flight on Jetstar remains on the QF page.

Any seat award bookings on JQ start of the QF webpage, but transfer over to the JQ page when it comes to selecting specific flights if memory serves me correctly.
