Qantas FF Family Transfers

I am a few Qantas FF points short for my flight, the new Family Transfer facility enables these to be transfered between almost 'anyone'. I realise that no money is allowed to change hands for points but if anyone gave me some for free, I would buy something from them... above market price.

Have you considered using the new 'top-up' facility? You can top up required points by paying cash. I know that the new family transfer option is available immediately, though am not sure when the top up option begins.

I have looked at that but its quite expensive and you can only buy up to 15% of the points that you hold.

but have you seen the cost, 30000 points cost, over $800, you can get 2 return tickets to perth on virgin for that. I hope the ACCC will ask why the retail price is so high compared to what they charge CBA & ANZ

I have just been given 10000 points from my sister-in-law who is an eligble family member for points transfer. I did not pay her for these since that is not allowed, I did buy her a nice birthday present for $200.00. If you get the picture. If anyone else would like a nice birthday gift i would be happy to help you. I still don't have enough points for my flight. There must be many people with not enough points to take a flight who would gladly give them to a family member so they could fly.

My children have pre 15 Mar 2001 and the first lot expire 31 Jan 2005. If they transfer them to me before 31 Jan 2005, do these tranfer points expire on 31 Jan 2005?

No.

Qantas ff points no longer expire, they last forever so long as you have activity on your account at least once every 3 years

On my child on-line statement it states points pre 15 Mar 2001 do expire!

No, it would be impossible to check this. I have transferred points from 3 people to my account. They only had a few thousand points each so they donated them to me for free since they would not earn enough for a flight.

I'm sure each of these benifactors fell into one of the following catagories: :twisted:

Child, including foster & step-child

Brother/Sister-in-law

No, it would be impossible to check this. I have transferred points from 3 people to my account. They only had a few thousand points each so they donated them to me for free since they would not earn enough for a flight.

I have also done this as well. Without giving too many obvious details away it would be almost impossible to prove that they are not a family member, e.g domestic partner/de facto etc.

All you need is the account details and password of the person offloading the ff points to secure the transaction.

I think that it is based on an honour system and I am not sure whether Qantas would go to any great lengths to prove otherwise.
